सुषमा स्वराज की छवि मेरे मानस पटल पर सामाजिक और राजनीति सरोकारों में सामंजस्य बिठाने और दोनों को संभालने वाली एक आदर्श महिला के रूप में दर्ज हो गई। वस्तुतः उनके व्यक्तित्व के पीछे की आभा और भी उज्जवल हो गई। बाद में जैसे-जैसे मुझे सुषमा जी के साथ काम करने और उनका सानिध्य मिलता गया, उनके साथ मेरी निकटता बढ़ती गई, वैसे-वैसे मेरे मन में उनके प्रति सम्मान दोगुना होता गया। मेरी तरह अनगिनत लोग उनके व्यक्तित्व से प्रभावित थे।

समाजकारण व राजकारण या दोन्ही गोष्टी सांभाळताना माझ्या मनामधली एक आदर्श व्यक्ती म्हणून सुषमा स्वराज ही प्रतिमा जशी होती ती तशीच कायम राहिली. किंबहुना त्यांच्यामागची आभा आणखी तेजस्वी होत गेली. नंतर सुषमाजींबरोबर कामकरण्याची जसजशी मला संधी मिळत गेली, त्यांचा सहवास मिळाला, त्यांच्याशी जवळीक वाढत गेली तसतसा त्यांच्याविषयीचा आदर द्विगुणित झाला.
