An Unwritten Novel was mentioned in Virginia Woolf's diary entry for 26 January 1920. It was first published in the London Mercury in July 1920 and reprinted in Monday or Tuesday (1921). It was also later collected in A Haunted House (1944).

Jacob’s Room was written in 1922 and is Virginia Woolf’s third novel; the first in which she made a radical shift from the established style of prose narrative writing and began experimenting with the modernist "stream of consciousness style" now so firmly associated with her work and that so shook the literary establishment. Jacob’s Room is overwhelmingly centered around feelings of absence and emptiness and is a collection of memories and sensations that chart the life of Jacob Flanders, largely observed through the eyes of others.

È, a ragione, l’opera più popolare della Woolf: una storia dell'Inghilterra dell'arco di trecento anni, vista attraverso il filtro dei sentimenti, usi e abitudini di un uomo, che poi diventa donna a metà del romanzo. "To the Lighthouse" è uno dei romanzi più famosi di Virginia Woolf, scritto nel 1927. Il romanzo è tutto incentrato sul flusso di pensieri dei protagonisti, in cui la percezione del mondo esterno e del mondo interno si confondono, e colori e paesaggi interiori e esteriori si mescolano in modo unico, e reso forse possibile dall’atmosfera rarefatta dell'isola di Sky.
