In this follow-up to the first of Hugh the series though, Lofting assigns the starring role to Tommy Stubbins who is now an "old man". He recalls how he met Doctor John Dolittle and the many adventures they shared. The Doctor is working on learning the language of the Shellfish and their adventures take them from a trial for murder to adventures on the high seas, culminating in their arrival on Spidermonkey Island. Then comes a war between the native tribes, Dolittle being crowned King, the arrival of the Great Glass Sea-Snail and their eventual return to Puddleby-on-the-Marsh.

Beatrix Potter's Tale of Peter Rabbit first appeared in 1902 and has remained a classic children's favorite ever since. Peter was named after a pet rabbit that Beatrix had as a child, and she held the character in especial regard.

While his mother is out hunting for food, Buster meets Loup the lynx who has only bad intentions. Buster manages to escape from Loup and ends up on a series of adventures he could not imagine.

Maya is a young bee who does not want to want work in the hive. Rather, she wants to explore the world and especially learn about human beings. Youngsters of all ages can learn about the world of insects through Maya’s adventures. While Thornton W Burgess’ stories lead young children to learn about animals and acquire good morals, Waldemar Bonsels' story leads listeners to learn about the world of insects by giving them personalities. Waldemar Bonsels was a German writer who lived from 1880 to 1952.

Peter Rabbit would like to know more about the four-footed friends who share the Green Meadows and Green Forest with him. Old Mother Nature is only too happy to help and holds a "school" for Peter. Along the way, many others of the Green Meadow and Green Forest creatures join Peter at school as he learns about his neighbors. As with all Thornton W. Burgess stories, young listeners gain positive values while learning a great deal about the animals that share their world.

Beautifully narrated by Glenn Hascall, this classic by Beatrix Potter will entertain youngsters, and also provide an object lesson.

Peter Rabbit is a naughty but very lucky bunny. When his mother is away at the grocery, he naughtily slips into Mr. McGregor's garden and almost ends up as a rabbit pie like his father did years ago. His narrow escapes and harrowing experiences in that garden make a fine tale of adventure as well as a cautionary tale to warn children not to disobey their mothers.

Thornton Burgess wrote the Burgess Flower Book for children to instill a love of flowers in young children. Burgess uses one of his favorite characters, Peter Rabbit, to search for flowers. The story begins in early spring as Peter discovers the first blooms. Peter's search for flowers continues all summer and into the fall. Along the way, Burgess characters, including the Merry Little Breezes, Grandfather Frog, and others, help Peter find new flowers as they bloom. The description of the flowers is very detailed.

The Tale of Pigling Bland - written by Beatrix Potter describing the adventures of the pig of the title and how his life changes upon meeting a soul mate, in much the same way that Potter's life was changing at the time the book was published.

This charming book for young children and those beginning to read introduces the letters of the alphabet written in rhyme. Each letter introduces a different animal along with a simple fact or humor to describe it. First published in 1919, this book was produced by the Henry Altemus Company as part of their ‘Wee Books for Wee Folks’ series. A good book for listening along with a child since some of the vocabulary used might not be familiar yet to the very young listener or beginning reader.

Spot is a farm dog. His master is Johnny Green, son of Farmer and Mrs. Green. As with many dogs, Spot manages to get into his share of scrapes. He has run-ins with some of the farm animals, most notably Miss Kitty Cat. Miss Kitty Cat and Spot have their battles, and Spot has the scars on his nose to prove it. Miss Kitty Cat would be happy if Spot were not on the farm at all. Henrietta Hen and Turkey Proudfoot are also not very fond of Spot. Spot wants to be included in most of the Green family's activities, and this leads to some interesting problems for them and Spot.

Glenn Hascall does a beautiful job narrating this classic by Beatrix Potter. It will entertain youngsters, and also provide an object lesson.
