It seems the tag-along French vessel, Griffon, survived the massive 1715 hurricane and, after doing so, seemed to have changed its mission.

The year was 1715. A Treasure Fleet comprised of 11 Spanish ships and one French vessel was blown onto the reefs off of the east-central coast of Florida by a massive hurricane. Eleven of the 12 vessels were dismasted, broken like kindling, and sent to the seafloor in less than 20 feet of water.

Anna Maria Island was always Morgan’s favorite place in the world. Her grandmother’s home on the beautiful beaches of the Gulf Coast of Florida was inviting and captivating.
