He got rid of the pesky, hated rats, but when the villagers refused to pay for his services, the Pied Piper took matters into his own hands...and the villagers paid a very dear price, indeed, in the end.

Das Mittelalter. Genauer gesagt: Erlenburg, im Juni 1390. Der Küchenjunge Hannes und seine Freunde Agnes und Jakob fiebern dem großen Kirschenfest entgegen, zu dem jedes Jahr unzählige Händler und Gaukler in die Stadt kommen. Das ist ein Höhepunkt des Jahres, ein turbulentes Fest mit seltenen Leckereien und spannenden Gästen. Doch die Vorfreude endet jäh, als Hannes in den Verdacht gerät, einen Sack mit schwarzem Pfeffer gestohlen zu haben.
