Wieder einmal hat das Schicksal Altai einen grausamen Streich gespielt. Die Hoffnung, von Rhapsodie zu entkommen, hat sich zerschlagen, der Sieg hat sich in eine Niederlage verwandelt, und aus Freunden sind Feinde geworden. Frühere Errungenschaften haben ihren Wert verloren und sich in Nichts aufgelöst. Altai muss wieder von vorne beginnen, denn der letzte Akt der Tragödie hat sich nur als Vorspiel entpuppt und neue Herausforderungen zeichnen sich am Horizont ab. Er muss das Elysium erreichen und die Grenzabsperrung überwinden, um endlich zu Ende zu bringen, was ihn ins Sperrgebiet geführt hat.

Nur wenige Menschen auf Rhapsodie haben es so weit gebracht wie Altai. Er besitzt den Status eines Champions, hat ein hohes Level erreicht und sich die Loyalität der Verwaltung verdient. Doch wenn alles aus den Fugen gerät und das System des Sperrgebiets zusammenbricht, verlieren auch virtuelle Errungenschaften ihren Wert. Als die Grenzbefestigungen durchbrochen werden, Clan-Forts untergehen und die Xenos den Limbus überfallen, um in das Elysium einzudringen, zählen nur dicke Mauern, ein ausreichender Vorrat an Munition und Freunde, auf die man sich verlassen kann.

Altai hat das Unmögliche vollbracht. Er hat in der Roten Zone überlebt und das Turnier gewonnen - aber der Sieg verschafft ihm nicht die Befriedigung, die er erhofft hatte. Zwar konnte er sich an dem Mann rächen, der sein Leben ruiniert hat, aber die Rache wirft neue Fragen auf. Fragen, die nicht beantwortet werden können, solange er im Sperrgebiet verweilt. Es bleibt ihm nur eine Wahl: Spezialaufträge der Verwaltung übernehmen, um früher oder später seine Freiheit zu erlangen. Falls er überlebt, versteht sich.
