Evaluations of Leary are polarized, ranging from "bold oracle" to "publicity hound". According to poet Allen Ginsberg, he was "a hero of American consciousness", and writer Tom Robbins called him a "brave neuronaut". President Richard Nixon called him "the most dangerous man in America". During the 1960s and 1970s, at the height of the counterculture movement, Leary was arrested 36 times. Sir Alexander Fleming (August 6, 1881 - March 11, 1955) was a Scottish biologist, pharmacologist and botanist. He wrote many articles on bacteriology, immunology, and chemotherapy. His best-known discoveries are the enzyme substance lysozyme in 1923, and the anitbiotic substance penicillin from the mould Penicillium notatum in 1928, for which he shared the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1945 with Howard Florey and Ernst Boris Chain. Jonas Edward Salk (October 28, 1914-June 23, 1995), born in New York City, was an American virologist and medical researcher. A graduate of City College of New York and New York University School of Medicine, in 1947, Salk accepted a professorship at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, where he undertook a project to determine the number of different types of poliovirus and, eventually, develop a vaccine against polio. Russell was a philosopher, logician, mathematician, historian, prominent anti-war activist, and an outspoken opponent of nuclear weapons. In 1950, Russell was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature.

Born in Salem, Massachusetts, Thomas A. Watson (January 18, 1854 - December 13, 1934) was a bookkeeper and a carpenter before he found a job more to his liking in the Charles Williams machine shop in Boston. He was then hired by Alexander Graham Bell, who was a professor at Boston University. They were known for the invention of the telephone.
