In a dystopian future, cities surrounded by glass bubbles promise safety from diseases. Martina, a sixteen-year-old from Colombia, struggles to support herself and her younger brother after the death of their parents. Especially with the rising cost of mandatory medications. But when Martina spots a figure outside the safety of the bubble without a hazmat suit, her steadfast faith in their refuge is thrown into disarray. She worries for her brother’s safety. She can’t bear to lose him too. She’s determined to find the truth lurking beyond their sanitized sanctuary and ensure his protection.

Shortly after Sol hatches, his parents and nestmates discover the young crow is a gifted “thinker-linker”: able to communicate with distant birds, with the souls of dead birds - and even with humans! As Sol masters flight and makes his first migration, he learns many members of the Great Flock - birds all over the world – are suffering from terrible catastrophes. The ancient wisdom, “adapt or die”, is no longer enough, and Sol leads the hunt for a way to save birdkind from extinction.
