Es sollte eine schöne vorweihnachtliche Wanderung in den Rocky Mountains werden. Eine kleine, nicht zu anspruchsvolle Etappe, so wie Jane und ihre Freunde sie jedes Jahr an diesem Tag bewältigen. Doch in diesem Jahr kommt alles anders. Durch einen Schneesturm wird Jane von der Gruppe getrennt und befindet sich plötzlich ganz alleine in einer Hölle aus Schnee, Eis und Kälte. Nach Stunden des Umherirrens kann sie ihr Glück kaum fassen, als sie eine Hütte im Wald findet und kurzerhand dort eindringt.
