بحثنا كثيرا عن ترجمة عربية كاملة لهذه الرواية بالغة الشهرة، فلم نجد. ولم يكن التصدي إلى ترجمة ونشر "رحلة إلى مركز الأرض" لمؤلفها الملقب بأبي روايات الخيال العلمي الفرنسي جول فيرن، بالعمل السهل أبدا ولكننا اتخذنا قرارنا بالمضي قدما، وكانت خطوة شجاعة من المترجمة القديرة رنده حكيم أن تتفرغ لترجمة هذه الرواية من الفرنسية للعربية، وتقضي مع روح مؤلفها شهورا طويلة، تفك ألغاز الكثير من الكلمات وتعبيرات الفرنسية القديمة، حتى تخرج كاملة سلسة كما أرادها جول فيرن والذي نشرها للمرة الأولى عام 1864 ثم عمل على مراجعتها والإضافة لها لتخرج في طبعة أكبر عام
