This sermon focuses on Exodus 6–14: God reveals himself as the true King by judging Egypt, defeating Pharaoh (as well as Egypts false gods), saving his people through the blood of the Passover lamb, and bringing them through the waters of the Red Sea into freedom. This directs us to Jesus as the true heir to the Kingdom and Passover Lamb who brings the greater Exodus, rescuing us from sin and death by his blood (and through the waters of baptism) so that we may belong to God.

The God who revealed himself to Moses as the covenant LORD, the great “I AM,” sends insecure people into his rescuing mission, not by making them sufficient in themselves, but by promising his own presence — fulfilled in Jesus Christ, the true Rescuer, and poured out upon the church through the Holy Spirit at Pentecost.

This sermon focuses on Exodus 3:1–8, where God reveals Himself to Moses in the burning bush as the holy, present Rescuer who sees, hears, knows, and comes down to deliver His people. The sermon will connect the burning bush to Jesus, showing that in Christ, the holy presence of God comes all the way down into our suffering and bondage to set us free and removes the veil that separates us from God’s presence.

Joseph’s story reveals a God who is sovereign even in suffering, working through betrayal, injustice, and long seasons of waiting to bring about redemption. Joseph's story is the same as the gospel as we follow him through prise, a fall, resurrection, redemption, and the offer of grace. This ultimately points to Jesus, who was also betrayed but through that suffering brought salvation.

This week we will be turning to Genesis 12, the turning point where God begins to restore what was broken in the Fall by calling Abraham and making covenant promises to bless the world through him...and Abraham responds in faith. This sermon emphasizes God’s sovereign faithfulness and the fulfilment of these promises in Christ and our call to the call to trust and obey like Abraham as we move from brokenness to hope to trust to sending.
