No gi jiu jitsu has seemingly had the most popular events in recent years, boosted by the influence of Gordon Ryan.

The Jiu Jitsu Oracle's highest engagement has been when ADCC and CJI are happening.

But the most famous no gi athletes, Gordon and Craig Jones, appear to be retired.

And the best grappling matches are currently happening in the gi in the IBJJF.

Those tournaments have the deepest divisions and lots of exciting contests at each major.

How did Tarik Hostock win IBJJF World Championship gold after years of falling just short?

The Norwegian grappler, well known for creating the Tarikoplata, received his black belt at the end of 2021.

Since then Tarik has been trying to win IBJJF Worlds gold in either gi or no gi.
