Our guest for Episode 17 is Mr. Paul Spychala, a well-known, long-time New Jersey sports public address announcer, who began his career right out of the gates as a college intern with Suburban Cable. Opportunity soon found him and when he was asked to fill in as a baseball announcer for ESPN’s vacationing Bob Lee. It was from this opportunity that his rise in the industry began. A question our audience may have is how did it come about that Paul is our guest today? When we began posting highlights to various great NJ high school games of years past, it became apparent to us that Suburban Cable TV3 Sports did an outstanding job in filming and announcing North Jersey games. We by chance posted some videos of Paul, who was an announcer for TV3, interviewing coaching legends like Bill Csatari of South River and John Bauer Senior of Randolph. Some time after these postings I received this Facebook message from Paul:
“I’m impressed with your collection of New Jersey high school football playoff games, especially since I’m included on several of them. Let me know if you ever need an interview guest. I’m the person standing next to John Bauer Junior doing an interview.” Paul Spychala Suburban Cable TV3
And so here we are! Now before we spoke to Paul to organize today we thought it would be an interesting show, but after we spoke to him we got fired up, because not only is he a great guy, the passion he continues to have for his days at TV3 announcing great football games and other high school programming still burns! He can't contain it and you all are going to love it. And we should add if you recognize his voice but you never heard him announce a Somerset Patriot game during his heyday, it’s probably because he has been announcing the NJSIAA Football State Final Games at Rutgers and MetLife Stadium for years!
