In the middle of this episode, we see Jesus meeting Levi and asking him to be his disciple. We see how Levi follows, and he invites them over for dinner alongside other tax collectors and Pharisees. They then question Jesus about fasting, so Jesus tells them why fasting is not needed for his disciples. He then finishes this chapter by discussing how old traditions do not apply to new traditions. This is a representation about how the Old Covenant and Old Laws cannot be mixed with the New Covenant and New Laws.

    Luke 4 begins with Jesus fasting in the wilderness while being tempted by the devil for 40 days. He shows his authority and knowledge as he prepares for his ministry. Once the period ends, he returns to Galilee with the power of the Spirit as he intends on teaching in synagogues. The first instance that we see of this in the Bible, Jesus recites Scripture and states that he has fulfilled Scripture in this moment. The crowd is not pleased with this information, and they intend on killing him, but he escapes through the divine intervention of the Spirit.

  • Luke 3

    Luke 3 shows the path that John the Baptist paved as he demonstrates the tradition of baptism for the first time in the Bible. This shows the symbolic meaning as to why we continue this tradition today. As he teaches those in the crowd, he clarifies that he is not the Messiah, but the Messiah will follow shortly after and fulfill much more than he ever could. Before the ministry of Jesus begins, the Chapter concludes by showing the Genealogy of Jesus Christ. This is important as it shows the records of how the important people in the Bible were all put in place for the purposes of ensuring that the path for Jesus was paved.

  • Luke 1:39-80

    This episode will go over Mary visiting Elizabeth as they are both pregnant. Her traveling into the hill country of Judah and speaking to Elizabeth will show John the Baptist's first encounter with the Holy Spirit as he is being created in Elizabeth's womb. Mary will then speak of song of praise known as the Magnificat, which Parises the Lord for the blessings he has given her. The end of the chapter shows the birth of John the Baptist and Zechariah's speech coming back to him. He will use this speech to prophesy and acknowledge John the Baptist's future as a prophet of the Most High. John the Baptist will pave the way for Jesus and his ministry.
