On the morning of the 18th of June 2001, 15-year-old Danielle Jones left her house in Essex to go to school and never returned. After an extensive investigation all evidence pointed at one man - Dannielle's uncle, Stuart Campbell. He was eventually convicted of her murder and even to this day withholds the vital piece of information that would bring some peace to her family - where he left Danielle's body. This month we cover the sad case of the murder of Tia Sharp, the 12 year old London schoolgirl who was murdered by her step-grandad, Stuart Hazell. The hunt for Tia was huge and coverage in the days following her disappearance was front page news. Little did anyone realise that they were looking in the wrong place outside of the home and that poor Tia never left her grandparents house. On the morning of Monday 17th February 2014 a call was made to emergency services in Essex by 18 year old Lewis Daynes. In this call Lewis requested police assistance, admitting he had just stabbed his friend to death in the bedroom of his flat. This was the the horrific end to what had been a years worth of on-line manipulation and grooming of 14 year old schoolboy, Breck Bednar.

Every parents nightmare, when Breck's mum felt something was amiss with her son's new online friend, she made Breck break off the friendship with this man who no one had ever seen in real life. She even reported him to the police...

Breck's family did everything possible to keep him safe from this on-line predator but ultimately it wasn't enough and Breck's young life, so full of promise was snatched away that awful February day.

With the current focus of child on child crime we decided to cover this case and bring some attention to the charity that Breck's mum, Lorin has set up in his name, which provides information and support in child safeguarding.

Welcome to the new episode of Blue Murder Club. Today we are going to be discussing the case of Ariel Castro and his Cleveland house of horrors. This is a case that shocked and horrified the world, revealing the depths of human cruelty and the resilience of the human spirit.

Ariel Castro, a former school bus driver, committed heinous acts that would ultimately lead to his arrest and the liberation of three women who had been held captive for a decade. Your favourite true crime podcasters discuss the abductions and crimes against 20 year old Michelle Knight, 17 year old Amanda Berry and 14 year old Gina DeJesus all committed by 40 year old Ariel Castro who happened to be the father of his victims school friends.

Castro used his relationship with his teenage daughters to make the young women trust him enough to get into his van and ultimately into his house at 2207 Seymour Avenue, where they were bound, beaten and savagely abused from 2002 until Amanda bravely broke free in 2013.

Amanda wasn't alone on her escape for during her captivity she had conceived and had a child. A schoolgirl on abduction and a mother of a 6 year old when she escaped.
