  • Supreme Court Decisions Expected This Week; Dulles Airport Revamp
    Jun 28 2026

More opinions from the US Supreme Court are set for Monday, with key decisions yet to be announced on birthright citizenship and President Trump's attempt to fire Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook. This week, the Supreme Court found the government has broad power to act without judicial review, effectively allowing it to cancel Temporary Protected Status for 350,000 Haitians and 7,000 Syrians in the US.

Also this weekend, the White House wants to make Dulles International Airport great again, with President Donald Trump adding it to the list of venues and amenities in and around the capital he hopes to remake in his own image. The plan would transform Dulles by expanding the main terminal building, renovating or constructing concourses, and extending an underground train, with the goal of making it the best airport in the country.

On today’s show, Bloomberg This Weekend hosts David Gura, Christina Ruffini, and Lisa Mateo speak with:

    - Bloomberg News Supreme Court Reporter Greg Stohr, on the Supreme Court decisions expected to come this week.

  • US-Iran Talks Begin in Switzerland
    Jun 21 2026

The first high-level meetings of US, Iranian, Qatari and Pakistani representatives commenced Sunday in the Swiss resort of Bürgenstock, with US Vice President JD Vance and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi among attendees.

But even as the meetings got underway, President Donald Trump threatened in a social media post Sunday to strike Iran again if it doesn’t “immediately stop their highly paid PROXIES in Lebanon from causing trouble.”

  • Iran Says Hormuz Is Closed Again; Sit-Down with Sen. Warnock
    Jun 20 2026

Iran said it has closed the Strait of Hormuz for shipping transit due to what it called Israel’s violation of a ceasefire, even as Pakistan said US-Iran talks were set to open in Switzerland on Sunday.

The Hormuz action casts a new cloud over the talks, which are aimed at permanently ending a conflict that’s thrown the Middle East into disarray. The immediate impact on vessel traffic was unclear, but even before the recent ceasefire, millions of barrels of oil had been quietly escaping the waterway each day.

Iran’s joint military command said the closure is Iran’s first step in response to Israel’s continued attacks in southern Lebanon, the semi-official Tasnim news agency reported on Saturday.

On today’s show, Bloomberg This Weekend hosts David Gura, Christina Ruffini, and Lisa Mateo speak with:

    - Dan Williams, Bloomberg News Jerusalem Reporter, and Daniel Tannebaum, Global Anti-Financial Crime Practice Leader and partner with Oliver Wyman, on the US-Iran talks set to open in Switzerland on Sunday and the latest in Iran.

  • Trump Eyes Iran Deal, But Tehran Still Reviewing; Knicks Win The NBA Finals
    Jun 14 2026

US President Donald Trump said an interim deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and end the conflict with Iran would be signed on Sunday, a claim contradicted by Iran as the two sides still differ over key points, including management of the waterway and payments to the Islamic Republic.

“The Deal is scheduled to get signed tomorrow, and immediately after it is signed, the Hormuz Strait is OPEN TO ALL,” Trump said in a social media post on Saturday, while claiming that Iran “no longer wants a Nuclear weapon.”

Pakistan, which has served as a mediator, is preparing for an electronic signing of the peace deal, “followed by technical-level talks next week,” Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said. Those talks would last up to 60 days and focus on Iran’s nuclear program.

Plus, the New York Knicks ended one of the longest championship droughts in the NBA, bringing relief to their long-suffering fans.

Jalen Brunson, who was named the Finals MVP after the game, scored 45 points to power New York to victory over San Antonio.

On today’s show, Bloomberg This Weekend hosts David Gura, Christina Ruffini, and Lisa Mateo speak with:

    - Representative Johnny Olszewski, (D) Maryland, on the latest with the US-Iran peace deal, as well as his idea for Supreme Court term limits.

  • Why Musk Raced to Take SpaceX Public in the World's Biggest IPO
    Jun 13 2026

Elon Musk and his executives had one overarching message for the army of people working on the SpaceX initial public offering over the past six months: Faster, move faster.

As the gigantic space exploration startup barreled toward a public listing after 24 years as a private company, the urgency was apparent. The acquisition of a $250 billion artificial intelligence company in the middle of the process? Don’t let it slow you down. Why have everyone wait late into the evening for the final terms? Instead, close the deal during market hours.

The rush was driven by a canny strategy: go public before the US midterm elections, with a — mostly — pro-Musk president in charge; beat OpenAI and Anthropic to market to get in early on investors’ appetite for AI-focused listings; and become a public company before Musk’s 55th birthday at the end of June.

The race culminated on Friday, when Space Exploration Technologies Corp. started trading on the Nasdaq after pricing the biggest IPO in history. The company raised $75 billion and made Musk the world’s first trillionaire. Shares climbed as much as 31% in their debut before closing at $160.95, giving SpaceX a fully diluted market value of $2.2 trillion.

On today’s show, Bloomberg This Weekend hosts David Gura, Christina Ruffini, and Lisa Mateo speak with:

    - Bloomberg Tech Host Ed Ludlow on Elon Musk becoming the world’s first trillionaire after SpaceX’s record IPO debut.

    - Eric Martin, Bloomberg News State Department Reporter, alongside Bloomberg News Jerusalem Reporter, Dan Williams, on Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expecting that a US-Iran peace deal will be finalized within 24 hours.

    - Swarovski CEO Alexis Nasard on the company’s new “pop luxury” rebrand as well as their turn towards profitability.

  • Trump to Consider Government Stakes in AI Companies; Knicks Win
    Jun 6 2026

President Donald Trump expressed interest in the US government holding equity stakes in leading artificial intelligence developers, saying that he planned to discuss the idea of a partnership with AI companies’ executives as soon as next week. Trump said he had already spoken to the companies about the idea, though he offered no specifics on those conversations. In his remarks, he addressed news reports that the administration would put the stock into a government-run wealth fund that would redistribute some of the financial windfall to the public and signaled his openness to that idea.

President Trump also said he will attend the NBA finals at Madison Square Garden on Monday. The Knicks have won both games of the NBA Finals so far against the San Antonio Spurs. Resale tickets for the game are being sold for thousands of dollars.
