About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

NOW THE NO.1 DRAMA IN THE HISTORY OF AppleTV+, SILO.

In a ruined and hostile landscape, in a future few have been unlucky enough to survive, a community exists in a giant underground silo.

Inside, men and women live an enclosed life full of rules and regulations, of secrets and lies.

To live, you must follow the rules. But some don't. These are the dangerous ones; these are the people who dare to hope and dream, and who infect others with their optimism.

Their punishment is simple and deadly. They are allowed outside.

Jules is one of these people. She may well be the last.

A strange one this. The Wool your looking at here is actually an omnibus of 5 stories that was published in one volume last year. When it was published I read a review describing it as the best book the reviewer had read. I was going to buy it but was confused as the old editions where cheap and the new edition was expensive and I couldn't work out which to buy. It didn't take long to invest an audible credit then, and it was as credit well spent.

Wool proved un-putdownable. It isn't the longest book at 16 hours but I found my self wishing it was longer. looking at the timer and beign thankful that there was still 6 hours left... still 4 hours left.

There must be a sequel. I need to find out what happens next.

The only bad part is that it ends

Really impressed with the writing, riveted in fact. The best suspense thriller I have read in sooo looong a time... it knocks other apocalyptic novels like 'the passage' etc into a cocked hat.. won't be forgetting this one for a while.. the almost painful pace H.H sets was excruciating as he ratcheted up the suspense, it was as if I was living and breathing in those silo's..Superb, I loved it.. worth every penny, not a book to forget easily.

This is a really good story - the world is utterly believable because the people who inhabit it are the people we are and live with. We participate in the dawning awareness of the world in which these people live. It never flags. As well as a story of a future that could happen it is also a really good thriller - and well written.

Original and gripping

Great story, awful narrator. Her monotonous voice was sending me to sleep. Save yourself the trouble, give this a miss and read the book.

I took a chance on this tittle after a favourable review in the times, this was a home publish project that took off in a big way. I loved it from the first chapter ,there were so many permutations and I could see why it had so many re writes.
Susannah Harker's narration was calm and totally fitting to the book.
Just getting into the second book 'shift ',I feel a film coming on.
