About this listen

Elizabeth Cage is a child when she discovers that there are things in this world that only she can see. But she doesn't want to see them, and she definitely doesn't want them to see her.

What is a curse to Elizabeth is a gift to others - a very valuable gift they want to control. When her husband dies, Elizabeth's world descends into a nightmare. But as she tries to piece her life back together, she discovers that not everything is as it seems.

Alone in a strange and frightening world, she's a vulnerable target to forces beyond her control. And she knows that she can't trust anyone....

White Silence is a twisty supernatural thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat.

I am not entirely sure what to make of this book. I like the idea of the story and I like most of the characters but the story seemed to lack substance. Like a sandwich with nothing inside, just two pieces of bread stuck together. These 10 hours could have been told in 5 hours and needed an extra 5 hours of something more. Jones’ attitude started to irritate me as well as Cage’s meekness. I truly hope there’s a follow up because I feel like there should be more. There where three stories in this book but they didn’t quite fit together. I don’t know. My review is as confusing as this book because that’s how it has affected me. I feel like I want to love it, but I also feel like the most delicious ice cream was snatched from me after I could only take one lick.

I’m confused

The story had me hooked with just the right amount of edge of the seat suspense and typical Jodi Taylor humour to keep you thoroughly engaged. Likewise the supernatural angle was woven through nicely to add to the suspense but not make it far fetched. The story didn’t quite hang together and was more like 2-3 interwoven stories wrapped into one but that didn’t detract from the overall quality or undermine the feeling suspense. Very well narrated.

Great listen with a hint of supernatural

My first book by this author. What a ride it was. Hope she writes some more for this character. I have already started on another book by her. I really felt like I got to know Cage and genuinely want to know what happens next. Believable characters, unusual story line. Brilliant narration that brought the story alive. Read it!

I usually enjoy jodi taylor work. So I was quite suprised I just didn't "get" this story. I lost the plot about 75 percent of the way through. I grasp the concept but the story seems to lose its way a bit. I'm not sure I'll buy a next one in this series.

I'm not sure!

My lower rating is nothing to do with the story, the author or the performance it is just that this story was not my cup of tea.
