Story
Lindisfarne, AD 793. There had been portents - famine, whirlwinds, lightning from clear skies, serpents seen flying through the air. But when the raiders came, no one was prepared. They came from the North, their dragon-prowed longships gliding out of the dawn mist as they descended on the kingdom's most sacred site. It is 8th June AD 793, and with the pillage of the monastery on Lindisfarne, the Viking Age has begun. While his fellow monks flee before the Norse onslaught, one young novice stands his ground.

5 Viking Stars
Viking Warriors is from three separate books and follows the life of Elswyth, an English woman captured by a Viking.
I thought the overall audio series was thoroughly absorbing. I was most definitely transported to the Viking world de Maupassant has created, and the narration by Emma Parry, really added an extra layer to the experience of the story for me.
*Viking Thunder*
This was a really good historical / viking story. The audiobook is set in England, and is the thoughts, feelings and reactions of Elswyth, the wife of the village chief, to the sacking and pillaging of her village. As a viking story, this book does contain scenes that some listeners may find upsetting.
This is definitely not a romantic tale, but there are the beginnings of a love story within it.
*Viking Wolf*
I felt that the author drew a vivid picture of how life was in viking times, and evoked the feelings and atmosphere I would imagine of how people in that society would live, and love and function. The story itself is more than a love story, it really is a story of a young woman and her struggles within a male dominated village. I haven't really read or listened to many other stories about the vikings, but I definitely enjoyed this audiobook.
*Viking Beast*
This is the third installment in the story of Elswyth and her life with the Vikings.
To say that Elswyth has been on a journey thus far (from the previous two books) would be an understatement, and in this story so much more happens to her.
De Maupassant really knows how to use language and craft a really engaging and intelligent story. Her book's build up the tension and give us unexpected endings. Nothing seems to be a given in her world. It is brutal, it is not for the faint-hearted, and it is a story of a strong female and her survival in a tough world. This is a really remarkable series. A definite recommend from me for Viking story enthusiasts.

Dark & Intense
Viking Warriors is a unique and brilliantly-written dark historical romance trilogy. It's a compelling and sensual, packed with passion, intensity, and drama. There are elements in the story that are quite violent and hard but expected from the period. Emma Parry did an exceptional job with the narration, particularly the harsher scenes. I'm wholly impressed by her performance and ability to modify her tone.
If you like your romance dark, Viking Warriors is a perfect choice, one I highly recommend. I was given a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Dark romance, Viking times
This is the story of Elswyth. A woman born from rape. Her life surrounded by violence. Captured by string Vikings and made their slave and also their wife. There were not easy times them, so much violence and women degradation. Elswyth was a very strong woman, capable of defending herself and what and who she loves. That’s what got me from these stories. She adapted to anything in order to survive and kept herself afloat, which caused so much jealousy. She is the ultimate viking warrior.
The narrator helped live the stories with the emotion needed.

This had to grow on me . . .
I picked this book not knowing I was purchasing all three. The first book was nothing but introducing the characters, laying out the setting, and a whole lot of mindless smut. The plot wasn’t very clear and I almost gave up listening because I couldn’t figure out which direction the story was going. I kept listening which paid off because the plot developed and the story grew on me. This was the same for the third book and I was glad I kept reading. The smut got better and helped to move the story along as well. I did not love these books but like I said I am glad I kept listening to them.

Wonderful set of Viking Romance
I adored these three tales of Elswyth and the three men who touched her life m. There is much tragedy and heartache in this. An awesome story of love and faith overcoming the past to survive. It sucked me in from page one till the last. My emotions were all over the place. It was well written with an excellent narration. The characters burst to life in my mind. Sights and smells described so well I could feel the heat and smell the scents as she described them. I felt the iron taste of blood as I listened. This is my first book by Emmanuelle de Maupassant but it certainly won’t be my last. Due to strong sexual content I would recommend adults only. Still, it was a magnificent piece of work. Five stars across the board.

book 0.5: Em has given us another steamy read that will leave you wanting more. I can't wait to read more.
book 1: I was so happy to see how Elswyth had no problem submitting to her man but when the time came she also showed how much of an alpha female she really was. It was nice to be able to read about a female character that was able to balance the two worlds to her satisfaction.
book 2: Wonderful story that brings things to full circle but then leaves it a little open to give this reader hope that there may be more. (less)

This set of three could cause heart failure...
Just joking, I think.
I am trying to get back into audio books. At one point, they were just about all I ever read, but I spend far less time in the car (which was my main space to listen), and more time in front of a computer screen (from which I now read). So I'm retraining myself to take a break and listen to a book for at least an hour a day. So what do I do? I start with this set of three, steamy, hot, incredibly masculine Vikings. So much for relaxing. The more I read, the hotter the room became. But what could I have expected? The combination of a truly good voice reading truly hot words was just more than I could sit still for...almost.
Ok, enough of that. Let's get to the books. These three stories are ones I've read on my Kindle, so I was familiar with the story lines and the characters in each. What I didn't realize was how much the stories would come alive once the narrator got involved. Wow. Dynamic is the word that comes closest to the combination. Loved the stories before, really love them now. Emmanuelle de Maupassant, you outdid yourself on this one. The story was great, the characters were as spicy as we love them to be, and the audio books were spot on. Thank you for three enjoyable reads and listens.

Not expecting a good story but delivered
I think this series hits its stride in the second book. The first book is a D grade sex novel with Vikings, the rest of the books actually build a good historical romance type novel. It has some steamy scenes but I think I like it more for the story. Not what I was expecting and it was a nice surprise. The narrator did an amazing job! 10 stars ⭐️

Great series!!
This was a great series! It pulled me in from beginning to end and the characters were fantastic! We follow Elswyth throughout all of the books as she finds her way in life. She does not have it easy and has to fight, in multiple ways, for a life that she wants. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and was impressed with the way it was written. Everything felt authentic and the narrator really brought it to life as well. The accent was fantastic and felt authentic to what it would/could have been. The pronunciation of words felt spot on as well. It truly brought the story and characters to life and added an additional level to this series! I loved listening to them all together. There was plenty of action to hold your attention. There are definitely some darker elements but all things felt authentic to the time and culture.

This is an attention getter & keeper!!!
I love the writing of this author. This series is an attention getter and keeper. I can see some of the more realistic details which come out in this series for the time period. You will feel the brutality of the raids, betrayal, revenge, desire, love and a few surprises. The characters are brought to life and the storyline is strong and within your minds eye you will be able to envision the surroundings and the storyline as it unfolds. I went from one to another immediately wanting to see what happens next. I do recommend this series.
