Summary

DI Nikki Galena gets a series of anonymous calls. She is told the place, time, and who will die. But the messages are in a secret language used only by villains. Nikki and her team must decode the riddles and work out where the threats are coming from.

Meanwhile, the fens have been hit by a series of "designer burglaries". It appears that a new gang of thieves are stealing to order. And things get very close to home when a friend of Nikki's mother dies suddenly and, perhaps, suspiciously.

Do any of these events relate, and can Nikki stop the thieves on the fens before anyone else dies?

Full of twists and turns, this is a crime thriller that will keep you in suspense until its heart-stopping conclusion.

Gripping storyline

Time for me flys by when I am driving and listening to a fantastic writer. I have listened to all the Fen series books and will be downloading the next tonight.

Very Enjoyable

I love these Nikki Galena thrillers. Like life I guess truth can be stranger than fiction! I don't envy Nikki and her team one bit!
Like the author I have loved on the fens for many many years, so feel qualified to say in contradiction of many comments about the narration by Henrietta, that actually people really DO talk like that and her accents are spot on. Fenlanders really do have their own dialect and it varies from village to village. My own village is rather more cosmopolitan due to incomers like my self and my family, are different to that of my mother's village.
Thank you Joy for putting a spotlight on this rather wonderful diverse area of Lincolnshire in your stories, and to Henrietta for bringing them to life.

Great story

Love the story but less keen on the reader as accents not great and word mispronounced

Loved the development of Eve's character

Another compelling story of current and historic crime melding into intrigue. A really entertaining and fairly compelling listen.

Great story - narrator who can’t pronounce her own language

These stories are all great, but why on earth is there zero quality checking on the narration - the mispronunciations are consistently laughable: “Foilage”?? How can anyone whose profession centres around speech and vocal skills not know that the word is “foliage”?? And don’t get me started on her pronunciation of ‘cagoule’ a few books ago 😂🤦‍♂️.

Still having trouble with the narrator

I am not sure that she reads her narrative before committing to the audio. She makes the odd basic error of reading a common a word which has more than one connotation wrongly. Her biggest mistake which I am learning to live with is her way of describing the police crime scene investigation officers as So CO’s as if you think about it they are Soc O’s maybe that is the way they are described in the USA. The story lines remain of very high quality but I just wish the author would link them to he other team of detectives and therefore a different narrator.
