Summary

What happens when you open your home to the perfect stranger?

Anna Klein is ready to return to work as a literary agent for the first time since having children. She and her husband, Josh, decide to hire a live-in nanny with some trepidation, but all their misgivings disappear as soon as they meet Oaklynn Durst. She has stellar references, a calm disposition, and a natural way with children. Not to mention their kids simply adore her.

But not long after Oaklynn arrives, the children start to come down with the most puzzling illnesses and inexplicable injuries. When the maternal Oaklynn is there to comfort everyone, Anna can’t help feeling a little eclipsed. And suspicious. Her husband and friends assure her that her anxieties are getting the best of her - Oaklynn is perfect. But Anna’s not so sure....

As she delves into Oaklynn’s past, she discovers too late that the woman who has been living in her house is not at all who she claims to be. But Oaklynn’s not the only one who has been lying. And when everyone’s dark secrets are forced into the light, the consequences may just turn deadly.

The woman in our house

A really well crafted cliffhanger I went from hating Nadeen for being a monster only to end up admiring her courage

enjoyable

very good read. Two twists at the end that I didn't guess Shame about the American accent. It was a bit jarring but I would definitely recommend this book.

What happened to Mr Quietly??

Female narrator had a very whiny voice which grated on me. Story was ok, the cat Mr Quietly present throughout the book is forgotten about by the author and just disappears with no explanation? Where did he go? This enraged me!! After being such a main character he didn't warrant any closure? A paragraph stating he had ended up with the family? Disappointing.

Good Story, Average Performance

The story was interesting but more often than not, the narrators voices and inflections irritated me and distracted me from the actual story. This one is probably better as a book to read, rather than an audiobook.

Predictable

Though it's not a bad story it feels like a Lifetime movie. It's not my kind of story I want horror and thriller this was more suspense.

Pride and prejudice???

Outstanding! I work in a library and have seen many novels published with the same old theme-weak vulnerable women or damaged crazy women. I was afraid this might be another one of that kind. That is definitely not the case here. This is a great book with twists and turns that keep you wanting more. And a good ending that really gives you something to think about. Narration is spot-on. I highly recommend.

Intriguing

This is the first book I have read by Andrew Hart and for me, it was a "page-turner" and the antagonist at the end was a surprise. I was, however, disappointed the ending did not complete the story of Anna and Josh's financial problems.

Disgusting

This book narration may be irritating to some may be boring to others, but to me it was a disgusting piece of sick propaganda that is dangerous to the people of America. And the worst part you don’t even know how despicable it is till the last hour and a half! **Read my review not this drivel, but my review has spoilers. ** I haphazardly listen to the book throughout the day or while falling asleep with the timer on. It was interesting enough and you think you know where the book is going when bam you’re hit with a twist, that no one could have seen coming bc there is no foreshadowing to it, or any character lead up. So you’re walking through a story with a few hiccups that just wouldn’t happen only to find out the whole time this nanny character is being hunted down by an ex who also is a White supremacist

Patricia Arquette should play Nadine in the movie

It gets off to a slow start but is a captivating story so once it picked up I was hooked. This is a very good read if you like suspense/crime type books. As I listened I realized Marine's character reminded me alot of the mom from the series The Act. I kept imagining her as Patricia Arquette as I went through the novel.

Good story but....

Could have done without the preaching at the very end. I hear it so much these days that I either get aggravated or tune it out.

Pretty good

I don’t know what I expected from this book but it was def different than I thought it would be. The narrator was good. At times although I loved how descriptive the book was.. it’s description was overdone. It was just enough already and you wanted to book to move on. In the beginning it was a little tough to follow. Although we all generally love a little mystery in a book, there was enough there to make you stop and say wait and the info or explanation was lacking. Overall it was better than I thought. Well thought out and the end good. Although I think I would have enjoyed a different ending and concluded by wrapping everything up. I think there where storylines not finished.
