Summary

What if your first love came back on the scene...30 years later?

After yet another disaster, Lorrie is calling time on online dating. She might be single in her 40s, but she's got a good job and wonderful children, and she's happy. This, Lorrie decides, is going to have to be enough.

That is until she receives a very unexpected request from France. Antoine Rousseau, who had once turned a lonely French exchange trip into a summer of romance, wants to see her - after 30 years.

But Lorrie is a responsible woman. She can't exactly run off to Nice with the man who broke her teenage heart...can she?

A wonderfully funny novel, perfect for fans of Jill Mansell, Joanna Bolouri and Milly Johnson.

Delightful story very well read

I have really enjoyed listening to this story. The narrator was fantastic and made the story even more enjoyable. The story made me smile, smirk, wince and laugh and I am sorry that it has ended. Lovely!

Dreadful

I had high hopes for this book but was disappointed on all counts. The plot was so predictable and, considering there was so much about beauty, weight and age, it just conformed to old tropes. The characters were stereotyped and there was nothing in the plot or characterisation that was memorable, or funny.

If you introduced the characters of the plot briefly to 100 people, I bet 99% would accurately guess the plot. The only slight surprise was Cam's character, and that was a teeny aside at the end, with no further plot development. Disappointing.

Can't listen any longer

I have made it to chapter 14 but can't listen to any more of this. It is such a lot of nothing. boring, boring, boring. several descriptions of make-up applications because the main character works on a make-up counter. A shopping trip that lists all the shops you find in a high street by name followed by descriptions of the clothes tried on..... what utter tosh. nothing clever or funny or subtle or surprising.

Really boring

I wouldn't recommend this as an audio book, boring story, not a lot really happens and I only finished it because I don't like wasting my credits.

sweet easy read

I liked the main character overall, but I found her a bit too nice and easy going. I wanted her to push, be more forthright, get ticked off once in awhile. even when things were hard for her she still didn't react how I would expect her to. apologizing to her mother? ehhh I just wish she'd stand up for herself. the read was fun and quick. overall, a good read that you won't regret .

Did not laugh out loud!

Good story, chuckled in a few spots, but most assuredly not hilarious. Of course heroine finds true love right under her nose.

Fun

This was a lovely book... however, there are some themes running through that are far from light. Spoiler: It ends well but there are some heart wrenching moments-especially if you relate closely with the main character.

Was over too soon.

Loved it. The story was fun. Laughed out loud a few times. You really didn't know where she was going to land until the last chapter. The narrator was exceptional. Can't wait to listen to another by this author and narrator.

Very enjoyable and excellent excellent reading. The narcissistic grandma is a slice. Lost one star for the naughty bits but they were more tasteful than most modern novels.
