Summary

New York Times best-selling author Gena Showalter begins a dark, sexy new series - Rise of the Warlords - with a fan-favorite character from her beloved Lords of the Underworld series, Taliyah Skyhawk. The ice maiden faces off with her greatest enemy, a villain brutal beyond imagining.

For centuries, Taliyah Skyhawk has prepared to become Harpy General, leader of the deadliest female army in existence. One of the requirements? Remain a virgin. But, for a chance to save her people, she must wed the fearless leader of the Astra Planeta, Alaroc Phaethon.

The time has come for Roc to sacrifice another virgin bride to his god. There has never been a woman alluring enough to tempt him from his path. No warrioress powerful enough to overcome his incredible strength. No enchantress desirable enough to make him burn beyond reason. Until now.

With the clock ticking, war between husband and wife ignites. Except Taliyah never expected the merciless king to challenge the future she once envisioned. She certainly never anticipated the thrill of their battles turning into games.... The problem is, only one spouse can survive.

Love is a battlefield in Showalter’s The Warlord.

A brilliant start to a new series

I love the worlds/realms Gena Showalter creates, and as a spin-off on the Lords of the Underworld series, I get a new story in one of my favourite worlds. It helps if you have read the Lords of the Underworld series, but it is not necessary as the book stands on its own.

The wordplay between the main characters is hilarious and had me laughing, and the romance scenes are scorching.

I can't wait for the next book.

A book worthy of Taliyah Skyhawk

I enjoyed this melding of familiar characters with a whole new group. Good stand alone, satisfying for fans of Gena's Lords of the Underworld series.

Can't wait for the next book!

Another wonderful book! The harpies are some of my favorite characters. I fell asleep with the book playing last night and got some up with kisses from my husband! He has requested I play more of these books at night. We both had pleasantly sexy dreams! I have loved every book Gena Showalter has written. I can't wait for more!

Narration suffers on fair story

Not that this story was great but what ever grand potential it had died under this abysmal narration. The female voice was so terrible, especially when she was playing at being seductive. Im not a huge fan if this author but like her okay. I probably wont finish the series as its not worth a credit to me.
