He soon makes an enemy in Mortimer, the spoiled young son of the new Earl. As the years pass and the boys enter adulthood, Robin flees Waringham to seek his fortune abroad. In Aquitaine he encounters the Black Prince and the charismatic Duke of Lancaster, and against all odds he begins to restore his position among the nobility. Irritating music
Irritating music behind the narration was totally unnecessary. Really spoilt my enjoyment. The story somehow missed a spark.

Background music- Why?
I’ve barely started this book but the almost non-existent but really irritating background music is all I can hear so I’m giving up. Why is it necessary to have music at all? I say music, it’s more of a grating sound effect.

Masterful follow up to Scarlet City
Set some 10 years or so after the events of Scarlet City, this isn’t a sequel but it set within the same world with the same character.
The story is compelling, and the performance is great.

This is as good as any of the Scarlett City trilogy episodes.

Brilliant
After enjoy the Scarlet City series so much, I was a little wary of being disappointed but, mercifully, this first book in a new series is anything but a disappointment! The characters are brought vividly to life and the narration keeps everything flowing. I couldn't stop listening, but now I have to wait until the next book is released!

Loved it.
My only con with this audio book is that it wasn't long enough, I loved every second of it and look forward to the next book!

A fabulous dramatisation
I totally loved The Scarlet City trilogy and miss my updates on Jonah. However, this is a brilliant alternative from the same author. Totally entranced from the first few minutes. Can't believe I have to wait till March for the next book. More from Rebecca Gablé!
