Story
The wall just didn’t look right. Alex has been trying to cope. Life after his deployment had been rough. His ex-wife thought he needed to stop disappointing their daughter. She was right. He would try harder. With six hours before his little girl’s fourth birthday party, he saw the anomaly. One wall was too short. Plenty of time to tear out a panel and look behind it. He found a brick wall. His house wasn’t made of brick. Behind that was another just like the first. He still had time. When the second wall came down, Alex stood and stared at the shining doorway.

All Thomas Weaver wanted was death. What he got was time travel.
Thomas Weaver, haunted by a teenage tragedy, lived a wasted life. He closed his eyes for what he believed was the last time in 2016, but opened them again in his teenage bedroom and body in 1976. Now a middle-aged man in his teenage body, he sets out to fix everything he did wrong in his first life. A budding serial killer in home room, a possible new romance, and high school algebra complicate his plans.

Wasn’t sure at first but completely hooked now
This book was recommended to me by a friend at work, he’s an unusual guy, kind of an old soul, so when he said it was a time travel book, I thought, why not! As soon as I started listening, I was hooked and was disappointed when my day of listening ended. I saw the guy that told me about it again the other day and explained how good it was.... he didn’t know it was the first of a series.... I’m on Book 4 now and don’t want them to end!!

Sorry but a terrible narrative throughout
So the novels plot is rather good in its own manner however the narrator is quite simply, mind numbingly bad - so bad I couldn't listen occasionally, and really had to push through it to give the author credit due. Great plot, but ruined sadly

Disappointing
This has such good reviews on Amazon, but I really found it 'lack lustre'. The story was OK, but I wasn't gripped as I have been by other time travel tales. I don't think that the narrator helped the situation much. the protagonists were quite pleasant and were kind to each other, but overall I got rather bored.

Ridiculous
There are several problems with this book. First of all, most of the time I have no idea if Thomas is thinking in his head or talking out loud, which makes it very difficult to follow a lot of the time. Then we have Thomas himself. He is supposed to be a 54 year old man in his 15 year old body. Unfortunately, the way he talks and behaves is like a 15 year old, NOT a 54 year old, it's silly. But the worst thing, for me at least, is the way he loves the girl at school (forgot her name)! He is a 54 year old man who apparently has a massive crush on a 15 year old girl! Thomas is apparently a paedophile!

2nd Listen
I love the Middle Falls series, so much that I am listening again. I'm not the kind of person to repeat listen, I've never done that before. I'm so glad that I chose to do so, because I have absorbed so much more detail this time.
I really enjoyed the narrator, but a couple of times I found it hard to tell if the dialogue was his thoughts or spoken word. I also wondered why Thomas' mum was referred to as Anne a few times, when I felt that she should have been referred to as Thomas' mum.
I fast forwarded the parts in the woods this 2nd listen, because listening to them once was enough for me. My favourite part was when Thomas tells him mum the truth. Yvonne :-) England.

Oh I really enjoyed this story. I think i was expecting more travel in time, but i loved it all the same. A great take from other time travel stories too.
The narrator was slightly different to my usual, so took me a little while to settle in, but i can totally understand why he is used and is perfect for his role as it really gets you into understanding how Thomas is feeliing going back in time.
Plenty more from this author to try.

Familiar Premise, but Superb !! Great Performance.
There are a lot of books in the time-travel sub-genre about going back to re-live part of one's early life. But there was something about the review I read that encouraged me to take a flyer and try this one. Now, I'd like to do the same for you. The principal character is intentionally problematic, but engaging. The secondary characters are interesting and emotionally engaging. The plot has many unexpected turns. There is a good deal of both thinking and excitement. The writing is well-constructed, well edited and full. And......the narration is REALLY good. Heller voices a number of semi-noir detective novels and his delivery is so unexpectedly spot-on that it is hard to believe. I don't know who selected him for this book -- I wouldn't have thought of it in a million years -- but it is genius. There are several other titles in the series, at least one of which is out in print (though not Audible yet.) I really look forward to more from this author !

Entertaining Story and Awesome Performance!
It has been a long while since I have 5 starred a book. I have almost 1000 books in my audible library and the really good ones are getting harder to find.
This one is pure entertainment. Fresh concept, engaging characters, thorough world building and a real performance (as opposed to dull narration).
In the first 5 minutes or so, a guy decides to end his life after years and years of living with guilt over a childhood accident. That is really where the story begins - he gets a do over.
The journey is fun, entertaining and you will feel good about the ending. Don't skip the author's note at the end, it was interesting. I have always wondered where author's insipration comes from.

Shawn Inmon's unique outlook and talents.
I have listened to all of his books that involve reincarnation. The 'Life' books. The narrators were great and so were the books. I love his ideas and imagination. I think that most of us who love time travel have a strong desire for do overs in life. Many listeners and readers will praise his stories. I second the motion.

great narration, gripping story
I haven't listened to Johnny Heller before but this makes me a fan. His performance is subtle but so moving in places. The story was satisfying time travel but also a mix of mystery, and a love story. The interaction of the kids playing D&D were nostalgic in a Stranger Things way. Definitely recommended and I'm looking forward to hearing Michael Hollister's story play out in the next volume.

Fascinating concept and conceptualization
I was intrigued with this concept and became totally immersed in Thomas's story. I didn't at first care for the narrator's voice, but was impressed at his ability to naturally deliver lines by multiple characters and came to enjoy his telling of the story. The epilogue as nicely done, and the author's explanation of how this book evolved was fascinating. The preview of the next book leaves me breathlessly waiting to dig deeper into the author's perception of reincarnation, akashic records and how souls seem to travel together, repeatedly influencing each other's life paths.

Good book if you like sci-fi or time travel
It's a darn good Time travel book. The thing I hate is that the book just ends the story then starts the entro to a second book that isn't available yet. It could have included more antics or maturity of the main players. Even though they are in the body of teens, they forget that there maturity should be appropriate to the age they did at. If the book was half the price or credit, then I would expect less.
The narrative is good, but the narrator was 5 star.

Wild Spin on Time Travel...and Second Chances
Okay, I knew this was a time travel piece. It says so in the subtitle. But, I was not prepared for this story. Wow! It took such a fresh spin that I was immediately captured up and didn't want the ride to end. Book 1 ends with some unanswered questions on the part of the listener/reader. But, this is just the setup to more fabulous writing by Shawn Inmon. I was immediately delighted with the sneak peek at book 2.
Performance by Johnny Heller was entertaining and captivating. His voice was perfect for the awkward man in a teen's body, Thomas Weaver soon finds himself being. A true delight to my ears.
I can't wait to hear the rest of this series AND share the series with my husband!
