About this listen

Darlington is a small Northern town where everyone knows everyone. And Detectives Tanzy and Byrd know there’s a twisted serial killer in their midst ...

They find Julia Porter’s body tied to a chair in her quiet family home in the outskirts of Darlington. She’s covered in blood, and someone has cut out her eyes.

Next to her is a message written in red crayon: She didn’t see it coming.

Detectives Tanzy and Byrd have never seen the like of this in their town before. Then a few days later a woman is handed a package on the high street.

It contains Julia Porter’s eyes ... It’s a warning.

Darlington used to be a nice town. Not any more.

Detectives Tanzy and Byrd must stop this twisted serial killer before more women pay the ultimate price.

Now enjoying the third. The stories are great, my only slight gripe would be the narrator seems to have given most of them vaguely Lancastrian accents, not Darlo ones!

Loved the first two

The beginning of the book was great……intriguing, well paced, and gradually setting the scene and drawing you in. However there were so many holes in the plot and characters the more the book went on the less I liked it.
You expect to have some element of unlikely behaviour or plot however there were just too many credibility issues. As for the ending and the involvement of one central character (I won’t name in case it spoils it for a reader) that was just ridiculous!
A minor irritation was the unnecessary padding - do we really need to know which side of the desk the coffee was put, or that he put the handbrake on, removed the seatbelt and then opened the door before getting out? There were far too many such bits of padding.
Will I try the next book? Probably but I don’t hold out great hopes and may well abandon….

Great start however deteriorated……….
