Summary

Carole Seddon hates Christmas - it all seems rather a waste of time. So when her best friend, Jude, drags her along to go shopping at a local store called Gallimaufry, she can feel her inner Scrooge knocking.

Then Gallimaufry is burnt down, and a body is discovered. It seems like a tragic accident, but it’s not natural causes when a gun is involved. With a host of suspicious characters - the infamous womanizer Ricky Le Bonnier; Piers Duncton, an unfunny comedy writer; and Anna Carter, the lonely dog walker - the lady detectives know they have their work cut out for them.

It seems that someone in Fethering has a deep, dark, deadly secret - and is prepared to kill to keep it.

Wonderful, as always!

Another wonderful trip to Feathering. Jude and Carol never fail to entertain as they work through yet another mystery. It's great finding out a little bit more about their backgrounds as each book progresses and each time I like them more. This time, I was well into the story before I had an inkling of how it was going to unfold. All very satisfactory and I can't wait to start on the next one. Great Lockdown material!

Feathering Fun

Working my way through these books as they help me sleep! All good yarns although I switch between who annoys me the most: Jude or Carol!?

Brilliant and engaging

I’m addicted to these books , amazingly well drawn characters and plots , narrated beautifully by the author . On the face of it , easy whodunnit listens but what draws me in are the razor sharp descriptions of people and places , just so insightful and yet engaging and entertaining . What a treat to know that there are many more to listen to .

Excellent book

A really good listen. Love these Fethering books and the characters that appear in them. Very relaxing to listen to listen to the excellent performance of Simon Brett of his own book. Certainly takes one away from the troubles of our World.

No one is totally invisible

Still loving Simon Brett reading another Fethering mystery and the development of Carol from stuffy ex-Civil Servant to someone softening because of her grand daughter and as she starts to enjoy interacting with her fellow dog walkers, etc.

A fabulous series

I started listening to the first of these 4 weeks ago and I’m already on number 12, they’re just the perfect amount of enjoyment and easy listening.
They're so not my usual type of book either, and I bought the first as I had a long wait until RR Haywoods Undead part 20 came out and needed something to tide me over until it was released, so I bought the first of these.
Part 20 is now out (but I’m still enjoying my time in Feathering with Carol Seddon) and I’m pretty sure I’ll end up buying and listening to all of these first., binging one after another.
I do give up on books very easily if they don’t hook me quickly, but I liked these from the start, the characters are really well written and performed.
