Captivating and candid!

I loved this audio book as I drove to and from work. I am from a black African background and have a blended family. Our differences only bind us closer.

Very interesting

I can't say I have thought about this topic before but this makes being honest with your children crystal clear. Very concise and easy to understand. Also being from South London it almost seemed to be told by a friend.

Brilliant!

I was absolutely hooked. It's really hard to embed vulnerability into your life when you know it's going to hurt others but Georgina has shown that pushing through all of that really does pay off, better relationships not only with the people around her but with herself too. Really moving snd informative.

The revealing side of DNA

I couldn't stop listening to this wonderfully revealing explanation for the reasons and drive to find out about her genetic origins and unknown father. A well researched and responsible piece of detective work with DNA at it's centre. If your interested in family history and/or knowing about your ethnic identity then this is a must listen.

Georgina's story is fascinating, I couldn't stop listening.
I will proceed to reading her book called "Raceless: In Search of Family, Identity, and the Truth About Where I Belong"

Worth the time

Her story is already naturally intriguing and she could have let that be enough but she did the work of talking to others and including their stories as well. I listened straight through. Very interesting.

Find Answered at All Costs

A well-loved, well educated, well adjusted girl badgers her mother into disclosing her single, secret indiscretion. Her search for "answers" for her selfish need to find out why she doesn't look like the rest of her family leads her mother to admit to a one night stand. The mother is badgered into revealing what happened as the relationship with her selfish daughter was the only reason she tells what happened. The daughter then cashes in on her mother's shame by making the whole story public and obviously making money on the story. She had a loving father, mother and brother who had to suffer for this girl's selfish "need" for answers.
The narrative is well done and held my interest, but when it is all said and done I wonder if the sojourn was worth bringing her mother down like that after she had already suffered the loss of her husband. The daughter seemed to make it clear that there would be no relationship with her mother unless she had the truth and that seems heartless and manipulative of the daughter.
Why couldn't she let it go and make the best of the good friends and family that she had. So many people would be thrilled with what she had to start off with. But she demanded more, and at what cost?

Well Done!

Ms. Lawton presents an informative and illuminating podcast. She openly shares her personal journey, extensive interviews, and some really good information on the types and implications of genetic testing. I came away from this with greater compassion for the struggles of being human and admiration for the power of Love.

Edge of your seat

Georgina has done a great job narrating and interviewing others on a topic that is not only personal to her but so personal and an almost unknown commonality to so many others out there. When listening to her journey, she really brings the audience in such a way that goes beyond realism and is educating others to how society is evolving from something that started decades ago and how it has evolved and changed so many lives out there.

The Truth Heals

Georgina has always suspected she may not be the biological child of her father. After he passes, she investigates the truth about her biological differences using DNA analysis. Her empathy towards her mother is evident as the secret is revealed. The story offers insights on the power of parental love and Georgina show grace and courage as she uncovers her true self. I hope she continues this podcast to weave in her biological father's story as she discovers it. It is a fascinating story captivating me as it unfolded.
