About this listen

She is omnivorous. No matter age or appearance, physical frailty or imperfection. It is not their flesh that feeds her appetites but their souls. She devours young and old, men and women. She leaves only a desiccated husk.

An unspeakable evil. An impossible gift.

Renowned magus Taita is now over 100 years old and has ascended to a new level of wisdom and understanding about his world. But he must prepare himself for the biggest threat Egypt has ever faced: the great plagues and the failure of the Nile, brought about by the fire witch Eos, an ancient force of sheer evil.

Taita must risk his soul to battle against Eos, or his homeland and everything he has ever loved will be lost forever. But there are other reasons for Taita to fight - since success could also mean rewards he could never have thought possible....

Wilbur at his best.

I enjoy all the Taita books but honestly, the lack of consistency and continuity is annoying. Clearly Wilbur Smith didn’t review his River God notes before writing The Quest. Could have been so much better.

Great story

Not really sure what Mr Smith has done to this story, but I was compelled to get to the end of it. Somehow, the hero of the story is now capable of all sorts of magic. This story takes you further along the pharaoh family line but Tahiata (who is still alive, well and healthy) is able to perform all sorts of sorcery. It takes him through miraculous adventures even managing to grow a new appendage. All very peculiar. There are some good parts of the story, its not rubbish, but it feels as though Mr Smith has been watching (or reading) Game of Thrones and decided, "I want some of that". Very erotic and very fanciful. But hey ho, whatever floats your boat, I suppose.

Erotica Fantasy - in Ancient Egypt?

I absolutely adore Wilbur Smith, his adventurace gripping story telling with beautifully written vista's of Africa interspersed with description of the various animals and culture, its like being there yourself with a good friend. Unfortunately as I fell in love with the characters in the Egyptian series I was dismayed that book 4 was the end of Fem and no mention of her again or the fact that Tieta had imbued extra powers in books 5 through 6, I found this utterly confusing and such an anticlimax that I assume that I had entered an alternate universe with the story, I felt book 5 and 6 were in the wrong place and belonged somewhere prior to book 4. My dear Wilbur I sincerely hope that you will be able to rectify this issue as I'm hung on the last words of Tieta and Fem in book 4 and feel utterly lost please come find me again Tieta I miss you so much
