I gave up about 90mins in as couldn't focus on the story due to the ridulous character voices. I found them very distracting - particularly Fiona, but also other characters that sounded like bad comedic caricatures. I may go back to the book another time and read it, but can't listen to the audio book.

I have been a Mark Edward's fan since my Dad gave me a copy of Follow You Home years ago. I then read The Magpies and they both became 2 of my favourite books of all time and I was hooked. I have since read most of his books and although I have throughly enjoyed all of them, these 2 along with Here to Stay are the ones that really stood out to me and are on another level in my opinion.

When I heard about Mark's new book The Psychopath Next Door, the title and cover alone had me excited and then I heard that it is also set in The Magpies universe and I was keen to start it. I recommend reading The Magpies and it's 2 short sequels before this but you don't need to.

As with all Mark's books, this is a lightening fast read that never lets up for a second and I couldn't put it down. I recommend avoiding any possible spoilers and the less you know about it going in the better in my opinion so no spoilers here. I will just say that, if you're a fan of suspense, fast pace thrillers or horror then I am sure you will enjoy this. I won't be able to get this story out of my head for a while. Now to wait for more and/or The Wasp Trap, his next novel.
