Critic reviews

"With an exquisite finesse, Laurens manipulates the sexual tension between her dark, dangerous hero and her clever heroine into sensually charged love scenes, and the book's swashbuckling climax, worthy of Dumas, should please readers who like a bit of adventure along with a passionate love story." Loved it. But it dragged on a bit. The heroine was very stubborn and a bit annoying. Loved Sebastian the hero though. Got very nice and steamy halfway through.
The narrator was very good. First time listening to him and definitely won't be the last. Now on to the next one.

Intriguing and romantic. Simon brought the book to life and one could imagine the protagonists' emotions within various scenarios. Believable story though a bit stretched in places.

Great Narration!

The main characters were good and realist. They represented the time period, they were set in. The secondary characters also played there part well and the storyline kept one interested. However; this author feels her books won't sell, unless frequent and explicit sex scenarios are scattered throughout the book. Maybe she is right; as in some books the tale is lost under the prolific description of the sexual act, in all position. I am not a person who wishes to be an observer of other people's sexual exploits. Most tasteless.

Less sex; good story.

To me who has read many of this author's books it seemed to have a greater amount of boring sex.

lack of story

Liked this book. Was wary after reading later instalments of the series before this one as they had prolonged chapters full of intimate scenes. This one did have a couple but not too graphic. Liked having a glimpse of the aristocracy and their world

Great series teaser
