Story
You will hear a lot about venture capital, debt financing, and much more but most times, private equity is mentioned in passing as one of the ways of raising funds for a business. Nobody talks about how to use private equity to raise money for businesses and nobody talks about how to venture into private equity as an investor. It seems like something that only big monied people can use. But that’s not the case; ordinary people like you and I can invest in private equity firms and make tidy returns on investment.

Story
Banking on It is the firsthand account of one woman's quest to rebuild Britain's broken banking system. After a lengthy career at the top of some of Britain's leading banks, Anne Boden had become disillusioned with the status quo - the financial crash had broken trust in the whole sector, but there seemed to be little appetite to make the most of emerging technologies to revolutionise customer experience. Increasingly frustrated with the inertia within the industry, she decided to shake things up herself by doing something totally radical - setting up her own bank.

After a five-year research project, Jim Collins concludes that good to great can and does happen. In this audiobook, he uncovers the underlying variables that enable any type of organisation to make the leap from good to great while other organisations remain only good. Rigorously supported by evidence, his findings are surprising - at times even shocking - to the modern mind. Good to Great achieves a rare distinction: a management book full of vital ideas that reads as well as a fast-paced novel.

Annoying
Incredibly frustrating how the recording and the chapter menu do not match up. The narrator is saying Chapter 1, while the menu says Chapter 4. Really basic stuff that is beyond annoying. A PDF of the contents page of the book would also be helpful. The book itself is interesting and a useful overview.

Excellent Book
The Private Equity Playbook is an excellent book that provides valuable insight into how to transition from a Fortune 500 executive to a CEO of a PE owned company. The book is very informative with insights into PE expectations, terminology and how to manage and operate in a PE owned company. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is selling a company to a PE company or coming into a PE owned company from a larger corporate environment.

Some Good Nuggets
Ron Butler’s narration is not pleasing to listen to. The book talks very high level on how PE deals with companies and where they aim to make profits. Solid overview; however again, very tough to listen to.
