Summary

When former FBI Director Robert Mueller III was assigned to the Special Counsel investigation looking into the possibility of Russian interference in the 2016 US election, many Americans felt relieved. But when the report was delivered in April 2019, it was clear that the case was far from closed - and pinning Trump down on conspiracy charges was going to be a lot more difficult than it had first seemed.

In The Plot to Betray America, Malcolm Nance, New York Times best-selling author and renowned intelligence expert, reveals exactly how Trump and his inner circle conspired, coordinated, communicated, and eventually strategized to commit the greatest act of treachery in the history of the United States: compromising the presidential oath of office in exchange for power and personal enrichment.

Seduced by the promises of riches dangled in front of them by Vladimir Putin, the Trump administration eagerly decided to reap the rewards of the plan to put a Kremlin-friendly crony in the Oval Office. And instead of interfering, the Republican Party's faithful William Barr, Paul Manafort, Michael Cohen, Steve Bannon, Rudy Giuliani, Mitch McConnell, Roger Stone, George Papadopoulos, and Jeff Sessions among others did everything they could to facilitate Trump's damage to national security to fill his own pockets. Through in-depth research and interviews with intelligence experts and insiders, Nance charts Trump's deep financial ties to Russia through his family's investments, including those of Donald Trump, Jr., Ivanka Trump, and Jared Kushner, and the corrupt behavior of his other double-crossing pro-Moscow associates.

Only by untangling the spider web of personal and financial relationships linking the White House to the Kremlin can we start to free ourselves from the constricting clutches of our foreign adversaries and work to rebuild our fractured nation.

In this geopolitical pause-resister, The Plot to Betray America ultimately sketches the tracks and blueprint of the Trump administration's conspiracy against our country - and how we can still fight to defend democracy, protect our national security, and save the Constitution.

Best Book about Trump: Before and During His Presidency

I’ve read just about every book that has come out about Trump since he announced his run for office. This book covers the background, which started long ago, of Trump’s relationship with Russia. There is so much more to the story, and all the people in it, than any other book reveals. Nance’s book is the most far-reaching of any I’ve read yet. I’d encourage every concerned American to read it, and share the information. And do it soon!

Amazing Amount of Detail

No need to try to struggle through the Mueller Report after listening to this study of the facts by Nance. Yes, we’re dealing with impeachment currently, but Trump’s entire time in office and the months that lead up to it are one impeachment-worthy scandal after another. Chapter #15 on begins to tie it all together with a nice epilogue too. I’m not sure I would have had the tenacity to plow through the details of this study on my own. I’m grateful for Wyman reading it to me. Well worth the time.

Way to much depressing information

I got a third of the way through this book and just ran out of courage to continue. Yes we know Mr. tRump is a Russian Asset and is looking to become King but the itsy-bitsy details boggle my mind. I put it down without finishing it. You gotta have a lot of interest in this crook but once you know he's a crook MY focus becomes how do we lock him up...

Didn't age well

A lot of references to the Steel Dossier that has been discredited by both sides.

As a conservative, I listened to this book just to get an idea of what the other side thinks and why they think it. Not that I thought they were stupid just wanted to understand, and it is no better than right-wing books. It starts with the assumption that only their particular side can be right and anyone who doesn't agree with them must be brain-washed.

The author is very condescending to anyone who doesn't believe what he believes.

The Truth Matters

Thank you for researching the facts and putting them is a very understandable story. Although a scary story. At the end of the day I am hopeful Truth will win the day. If not history will.

Important but depressing read

This book gives more details about the scandals and corruptions around trump. Very depressing to listen but I persisted to the end to hear what the solutions Nance proposes. Trump is a very effective marker. He is so good at spotting and attracting what's corruptible, one just needs to see who support him to know where the rot is. Without him, it'd take much longer to ferret out all the decays. I don't think we can blame Russian disinformation alone. That'd ignore the role of the those who welcome the disinformation and refuse to be persuaded by evidence. Those people remind me of kids being told all their lives that 'they are great/special just the way they are'. Once they left home, their innate specialness got reality checked. It's natural and less painful to seek blame outside oneself. Holding on to the Bible and guns make one feels stronger much quicker and easier than being actually strong.

Brilliant. Not just the problem, but solutions.

Nance hits another homer with his powerful book about our devolving into autocracy. Not just another book describing the problem, Nance offers practical solutions we can implement to save democracy.

Great

Malcolm Nance delivers another great read with way too much truth for comfort. Just as with his other books, Mr. Nance details the current attack our nation is under.

Very informative

It has become blatantly obvious, the entire Trump administration is corrupt. The author did a commendable job explaining the terrible situation we find ourselves experiencing.

A must-read/listen to book

Wow. I had to look listen to this in bites. It was tough to hear details of the corruption and the diabolical behavior of the current occupant of the White House, before and after 2016. Donald Trump.

Mr. Nance obviously did amazing research and fine, engaging writing. Thank heavens for patriots like him.

Thank you.
