About this listen

A unique offering from the Queen of Crime. This Agatha Christie Signature Edition features the hero the world-famous author was most fond of – Mr Harley Quin, the enigmatic friend and counterpart of the rational Mr Satterthwaite.

So far, it had been a typical New Year’s Eve house party. But Mr Satterthwaite – a keen observer of human nature – sensed that the real drama of the evening was yet to unfold.

So it proved when a mysterious stranger arrived after midnight. Who was this Mr Quin? And why did his presence have such a pronounced effect on Eleanor Portal, the woman with the dyed-black hair?

A good little collection of short stories, apart from the last one that takes the whole premise just that little bit too far for me. Definitely worth a listen though. I rather adore Mr Satterthwaite

Enjoyable but slightly bonkers

I have always enjoyed the Poirot/Mis Marple stories, so was delighted to find this book of short stores with characters I had not come across before - Mr Quinn & Mr Satterthwaite

A must for Christie fans

Excellent, an aspect of Christie's work I was not aware of. Clever stories, and an intriguing character set. As I understand it the stories were written shortly after her "crisis" in 1927, and each story in the set grows darker as the series progresses. I am truly surprised that the mysterious Mr Quin is not more widely known.

Impressive, Christie with a supernatural touch
