Story
Daniel: I suck at relationships and don't trust anyone, but there are reasons for that. For one thing, every person I've ever cared about has let me down. The only recent exception: O'Leary's town veterinarian...my new best friend. I came to O'Leary for a fresh start. To pare things down to essentials. To forget about the failures in my past. The last thing I need is complications, and most definitely not a boyfriend.

Story
The job at Sunday Orchard was supposed to be temporary. A chance to gain some work experience, to have some fun. I had not expected to be welcomed into a family of gorgeous and weirdly efficient lumberjack-types, or to find purpose in the tiny Vermont town whose claim to fame seemed to be apple-based products and copious amounts of charm. And I most definitely hadn’t expected to fall for Knox Sunday, my grumpy, burly, fifteen-years-older, reluctant roommate, with his infuriating lectures, his hot-as-fire body, his superior attitude - I’ve never been one to put down roots.

Private doctor on a swanky island with a posh resort? Check. But from the moment I set foot on this island, nothing went according to plan. And I definitely didn’t expect Fenn Reardon, the island’s incredibly attractive, incredibly infuriating, incredibly male resident tour guide, to become the one person I can’t live without.

When it comes to hockey, I'm all about the game. I've worked for years to be one of the best in the league, and l've done it without splashing my orientation all over the tabloids. My hockey image is one I've carefully cultivated, and after one night with Ezra Palaszczuk, I risk it all. He's cocky, obnoxious, and has an ego bigger than Massachusetts. And okay, maybe he's the sexiest man I've ever known. We'll never get along. Not when we sleep together. Not even when my possessive streak awakens. That doesn't stop us from falling into bed together over and over again.

I spent college worrying about responsibilities and earning my teaching degree, so before graduation and moving to Atlanta with my best friend, Ross, I figure I deserve a little fun. I’ve never been with an older man, but the guy at the bar grabs my attention and doesn’t let go…for multiple rounds, all night long. The next day, when Ross introduces me to his dad, the last thing I expect is for him to be my hookup from the night before, in town from Atlanta for his son’s graduation. The best thing would be to pretend it never happened, which is easier said than done.

"Look out for Zach, and don't hit on him." My brother's request sounds easy enough. Keep an eye out for his best friend on campus and keep my hands to myself. Easy. Even if Zach is a quintessential nerd, who I've always thought was cute, I don't have the time to think with my...stick. There's only one stick I should be focused on this year, and that's my hockey stick. My goal once I graduate is to get an NHL contract. The last thing I need is a distraction. On or off the ice. Only, keeping to the rules is harder than I thought it would be.

It started out as a little fun. When there was a man in my building on a hookup app, why not message him? Only we didn’t meet. We just texted - one night after the other, after the other. GoodWithHisHands was the perfect escape from my life, where pressure was always on my shoulders: my father’s expectations, the worry about my sister, Maddy, getting sick again, and her ex-husband, Ryder Lynwood, suddenly back and volunteering at the same hospital as me. I like talking to him, the same way I enjoy chatting with GoodWithHisHands. They weren’t supposed to be the same person.

Hooked from chapter 1
- By Christopher Young on 13-02-21
Summary
"I was in free fall the moment we met, and I just keep falling."
Small-town police officer Silas Sloane knows every resident of O'Leary, New York. He's earned the love and respect of its citizens, though living under the small-town microscope grates on him. But though he's good at his job, there's one thing he's not good at: commitments...until Everett.
Widower Everett Maior, O'Leary's newest citizen, came to the small town kicking and screaming. He never wanted to become primary caretaker for his grandfather and has no interest in living the provincial life. Snarky and superstitious, he's proficient at keeping people at a distance...until he lays eyes on Silas.
Strange disappearances are plaguing O'Leary, though, even as Silas and Everett find their growing attraction undeniable. Can they find their way to a future together, even as ghosts from the past threaten to tear them apart?

interesting surprise
Not going to lie; it took me a while and many tries to get into the story since it takes forever to start. But after a few chapters have passed, the story becomes a fun beginning for a great series.
The characters are cute, funny, witty, and great together. Another thing that I love about this series is the townspeople. They are the best! It really makes you want to move and find a place that makes you feel at home.
My only issue with this book is the same issue I have with every book May Archer writes; she like her characters to be abused, mistreated, and wrong horribly and then... nothing. Literally nothing, there's never a great gesture of the abusive part or a moment to change their ways and ask for forgiveness and prove love fixes everything, the abused character ALWAYS brainwashes himself to forgive how shitty he's been treated, and HE is always the one who comes back to the abuser. Cringe.

Nice story
I enjoyed this story about two guys finding love in a small town in New York State. There was a bit of a murder mystery thrown in, but it did feel like a shoe-in rather than an in-depth, investigative story. (The way the local police reacted to the fact people were missing in the woods was completely unrealistic.)
The one thing that did bug me was... why were two narrators used for this book when one would have sufficed?
I have no idea why two narrators read consecutive chapters because their voices and narration styles were so similar they merged into one and I couldn't discern which was supposed to be which character.

Too much pride parade, not enough plot
The issue that I have as a gay man reading M/M fiction mostly written by straight women is that although a lot of stories are lovely, others are full of tropes that ring false. For example, the GFY stories which are borderline offensive or the trope of the bisexual who "thought he was straight" until he realized he was in love with his best friend's cute brother, which, I'm sorry to say, rarely happens. The books end up being a rumination on how women want their M/M romances to be and less about how a M/M romance actually works, sort of how lesbian pornography is mostly marketed toward straight men.
This book has the opposite problem, however. Instead of everyone being basically a woman trapped in a straight guy's body, a good portion of the characters are Gay with a capital G and those who aren't sure talk about it a lot. These guys are way gayer than I am, and I slept with a dude last night. I came out twenty years ago but if someone I just met said to me "I bet this town has a problem with queer people who vote liberal" I would roll my eyes and immediately find an excuse to be anywhere else, and not only because I hate the word "queer." Murders and disappearances are happening and all the police officer main character can seem to think of is how great it is to be gay in O'Leary. I made it to the part where a bunch of characters were arguing with each other about what to call their child's non-binary uncle/aunt and peaced out. I don't have 8 hours to waste on this.
Which is a shame, because Iggy Toma and especially Alexander Cendese were doing a great job narrating as usual, and May Archer's prose was relatively good. I won't be buying the other books in this series.

A comfort listen.
O'leary, sadly doesn't exist in the real world: an accepting kind of place. Fall isn't high literature but rather a comfy robe and good tea or coffee to curl up with and just enjoy.
The angst level is low. The steam just right; driving the tale where necessary but not so much and often that you lose the story in sex.
I hope we see more of the town of O'leary.
The narration rocked.

May I have some MORE Please?
I really enjoyed the story and the characters. The readers Alexander and Iggy did a great job. Sure for a small town in upstate NY it's bit unrealistic that most of the town is gay and so acceptable BUT it is a gay M/M romance so.... Everet and Silas are funny and the town characters are amusing as well. The whole time I was listening I was thinking I hope this is a 5 or 6 book series! Imagine my disappointment When I found out this is the only one! Audible Please get Alex and Iggy to read the next book. And Ms. Archer Please find some new adventures for Ev , Si and all the rest of the O'learians. I want to move there my self and eat some Cal and Ashe's lemon bars.

good idea with a so-so ending
I wanted to like this book but I really did not. First I absolutely did not like two separate narrators it was very confusing. Especially when the characters were supposed to be 30's and the second narrator made them sound like they were 50's. Second I found the main character (Ev) Everett to be very wishy in his decisions. The way he would flip-flop between wanting a relationship with (Sy) Sylis and then running away. If I was Sylis I would have told Ev to keep running he was not ready for a relationship.
Then there was the underlining mystery. Basically why? it felt like a throw away plot to just have something aside from a love story. There is the town sheriff who seems to just let the mystery slide by. A real sheriff would be on a missing person till it was finished especially when it became two missing people. Also I was able to figure out who the killer was in the beginning. The final climax scene with the killer was far too much a tosser as both men declare their love.
Finally like others have said you really need a score card to keep track of all the towns people. There are far too many characters to keep track of. With the two narrators and their different voices it was very difficult to follow who was who.
A re-write would be great because this has a good story in it you just have to find it.

Total failure
Not steamy and not funny
I really do not like these narrators either, usually a good narrator can turn a not so good book into a much better one but these guys really had no emotion and gave nothing to the story.
And the story, don't get me started on the story....... the story is worse than a Hallmark movie - there is no build up to the romance or even whatever plot was supposed to happen. Not happy with this total waste of time.

Another great series to add to my favourites.
Looks like I have found another series to add to my favourites. This story was great. Full of dynamic characters and their complicated relationships. There is a mystery element to the story but it is not the focus. In fact, even though Sy is a policeman we get most of the information about crime in the area from the residents. I loved watching Si and Ev, and several other characters grow with the story and the phases they went through. The dialogue was realistic as were the characters actions.
I listened to this book, narrated by Iggy Thomas and Alexander Cendese. I'm not a fan of dual narrations because I find it difficult to keep track of the characters when they are read by two different readers but I loved the way both narrators were able to move the story along with their pacing. And the emotions being experienced were felt through the words. If you like audio versions of stories this is a good one to listen to.

Not recommended!!!
I listened to almost all of it until the last 15 minutes and I just couldn't take anymore. The story is slow and goes on and on about nothing. The characters, all of them, were unappealing, obnoxious people, especially Everett. Way too much whining. Okay, he's a widower and sad. Then go be a hermit and leave everybody alone. Lock yourself up. And why would his '"lover" Silas want to be involved with someone who had sooooo much baggage. The sex and companionship certainly weren't satisfactory. In general, the town of O'Leary is full of simpletons, inclusive, yes, but none the less, simpletons. Alexander Cendese's voice is grating and sounds like he's constipated. I like Iggy Toma. He was the reason I bought the book. But, believe me, I'm not reading anymore in this cycle. I recommend that Mr.Toma choose more wisely in the future.

Enchanting
F. Scott Fitzgerald Said “All good writing is like swimming underwater and holding your breath.”
I definitely understand the sentiment, I have felt as if I was holding my breath for hours on end during the Love in O’Leary Series.
As I fell in love with each couple’s story, I hesitated to proceed onward with the next book because each one was so special and I was slightly worried the magic couldn’t be replicated. To my delight I was proven wrong with every page in the anthology.
Needless to say... I was moved.

Laugh out Loud
There is angst but mostly laughter and some intrigue - really enjoyed Si and Everett - and Grandpa Hen. Could have been a bit more romance the first 1/2 of the book - but, the reasoning is understandable with Ev losing Adrian such a short time ago. The story of these two is enjoyable and smartly written. The wit and sarcasm is ongoing and fun - Alexander Cendese and Iggy Toma are both excellent at their task and hope to see them in the NEXT O'Leary Book on Audible - Please Please May?!!
