Summary

Olive Anderson is dining alone at a hotel when a glamourous stranger joins her table, pretending to be her wife. What starts as a thrilling game quickly turns into something dangerous. But as much as the fake wife has her secrets, Olive just might have more . . .

The Fake Wife is a thriller that will shock and surprise you like the best television boxsets. If you enjoyed Netflix shows like Behind Her Eyes, The Stranger and Obsession you will love The Fake Wife.

Not very convincing

Well read, an easy listen but lacked direction and conviction. Not one of her best books but ok

Good but not up to other SJ Bolton novels

Good plot but a bit bog standard unlike her other superior (imo) novels.
Also found the narrators a bit plodding.

GREAT STORY AND NARRATION

Kept me interested from the very start . I did guess the story about 50% through but the narration kept me involved .

Full of twist and turns.

Be prepared to have a strained neck! With so many plot changes, Sharon Bolton has the reader reaching for the nearest bannister.

As Olive sits down to dine in a hotel restaurant, her uninvited guest has more than one surprise up her sleeve.
This book time travels between the present and three years previously. It's a clever 'whodunnit' which will leave you guessing right up to the end.
I loved the dynamics between Garry and Lexy, the two police officers. Hopefully, we'll see more of them in the future.

I would recommend.

Not up to her usual standard.

I usually really enjoy Sharon Bolton’s books but this one isn’t up to her usual standard. On top of that, I found Fraser Hadfield’s narration torturous. The delivery was flat and one dimensional; a bit like listening to a school child reading aloud. I’ll be avoiding him in the future because, as we all know, the narrator can make or break a story.

An intricate tale.

The shared narration helped a lot with the many characters.
It's a great read, many twists and turns.

Another great story from Sharon Bolton

This one took me a bit longer to get into than some of her other novels which I think was down to the narration rather than the story. Once I got into it I was hooked & really enjoyed it.

Great as ever

I am a great fan of Sharon’s work but this one is particularly good for me as I come from the north east and it was lovely to hear all the places of my youth being m mentioned.

Like everyone else, the pronunciation of Guisborough was annoying to say the least.

Sharon Bolton is always excellent

An excellent story as always from Sharon Bolton, Eleven out of ten.

BUT oh the pronunciation of Guisborough!!! It isn’t ‘Guise’ as in ‘disguise’, it is ‘giz’ as in ‘giz a job’. How on earth did that slip through? I cringed every time it was mispronounced.
