About this listen

Keeping watch over the Easter Sepulchre, where the Host and crucifix are stored between Good Friday and Easter Sunday, is considered a privilege. So it is shocking when it is discovered that Odo, the priest’s clerk, has abandoned his post. But as the hours pass and Odo is not found, Hugh de Singleton is called upon.

It is Hugh that finds the dried blood before the altar, and fear grows for the missing man … Will Hugh be called upon to investigate another murder, or will the man be found hale and hearty? But if so, where has the blood come from?

Its good to hear Tim Bruce back, The story was ok but maybe not as good as some of the others

its ok

I loved the previous books in the series, but narrator of this one was dull, and put no life into the characters. Story was probably OK but I only half listened due the narration

Spoiled by narator

I've listened to all the other books in this series and I'd say this one is average. Guessed who the murderer was well before Sir Hugh seemed to get there. Kept me entertained and I didn't stop listening in boredom or exasperation. The book was reasonably paced and had the familiar characters present.

However, it was let down rather by the narration which was adequate but bland. The narrator is British and didn't make the book unlistenable. However the narration didn't have the energy and humour of Steven Crossley who narrated the earlier books in the series. I think that this kind of book just doesn't suit Tim Bruce's style of delivery that well.

I really wish the producers of audiobooks wouldn't change narrators part way through a series. It is very rarely for the better.

Unfortunately I have only given this story 3 stars. Reason- I have enjoyed all the previous books especially the narration by Steven Crossley and found it difficult to fully appreciate this story/narration.

O.K. But!

Accurate historical facts, intriguing mysteries and engaging characters.
What more could one want? A murder of course and one is not disappointed!
Well read!
