The Convenient Marriage is read Jay by Avita Jay, who has appeared on stage in Sunday Morning at the Centre of the World, Peer Gynt and Bringon the Bollywood

Horry Winwood doesn't play by the rules.

So when her family are near ruin and her sister is about to enter a loveless marriage to a wealthy man to settle the family debts, young and headstrong Horry proposes to marry him in her sister's place.

As her new husband's attentions fall elsewhere, Horry begins to feel increasingly unhappy.

Then she meets the attractive and dangerous Lord Lethbridge, and her days suddenly become more exciting.

But there is bad blood between Horry's husband and her new acquaintance, and as complications and deceptions mount, the social tangle grows ever trickier to unpick.

Will Horry's gamble cost her everything she holds most dear?

Loved this from start to finish. Classic Heyer - definitely worth a second listen. It has all the detail and twists one could want with well developed characters.

Didn’t want it to end

One of my favourite Heyer’s faultlessly read. Loved every minute. Every character perfectly voiced. Brilliant

Stunning rendition

It is a charming story - unfortunately I felt that the story finished to soon …
After such a long extensive lead …. It is within three sentences finished - which I found disappointing

But all in all - MOST ENJOYABLE!

Charming story …

A good story but the last few chapters really ruined it for me. Felt like it dragged a little bit. Isn’t the best book from Heyer.

Good not great

That is what Georgette Heyer's text made me do listening to this title -- possibly four or more decades since i last read one of her Regency romances.
I sometimes think the author's beautiful writing is under-valued because her novels are 'froth'. But she knows how to create characters and plot and to entertain. My paperback versions of her books fell spart from re-reading.
It is a great joy to listen to them again -- but beware, not all performers can do her dialogue justice as this narrator does.

Few authors can make me laugh outlouf
