Was very pleased to find an unabridged version of Sylvester, but thought no one could live up to the wonderful Richard Armitage. I was wrong. Matt Addis in this version was absolutely fantastic. Every character was different and so believable, this is one of my favourite Heyer’s and I know the story well, but Matt conveyed it in such a way that had me in tears, please get him to do the whole Heyer back catalogue!

A triumph of narration, almost rivalling Cornelius Garrett. This dazzling hilarious tome makes the 12hrs 19 mins whizz by. As a devoted aficionado of Ms Heyer, first read this in print eons ago, then borrowed the dvds from the library in the 1990s; enjoyed this presentation to the full. with a gifted narrator new to me.

The character detail, the period, the locations, the house interiors, the couture, the carriages, the horses all placed perfectly by the author for our enjoyment.

After listening to the three books before this one in the ‘series’ (chronological order of Heyer’s writing of the Regency Romances) when each of the three readers marred a good story with a list (at times very long) of mistakes, it was pure joy to listen to Matt Addis reading ‘Sylvester’. One of my favourite Heyer novels, Matt Addis portrayed the different characters brilliantly, bringing out the humour in the situations they found themselves in and never putting a foot wrong with mis-placed accents or mispronounced words. Please can he be given the task of re-recording the books mangled by incompetent readers!

Quite an intriguing story somewhat reminiscent of Pride and Prejudice. Almost lost hope for the main characters ever finding each other so quite a nail biting end. Definitely one of my favourite novels by Georgette Heyer who remains my favourite travel companion through Audible while travelling.
