About this listen

When 30-year-old Lisa Forster begins to trace her family tree, she discovers her birth certificate belonged to a baby who died at four months old and is not in fact her own. Her apparently happy middle class upbringing was a myth and her parents had a dark secret.

With Pete Laundon's help, Lisa sets about searching for the truth. She follows up all possible routes, until with no options left she goes to the newspapers for help. After 30 years, who if anyone knows: Who is Lisa Forster? Why was she never told? And who was the baby who died?

The Appearance of Truth is the gripping tale of one woman's search for identity.

It's a great story, but the hero is a liitke bit of a doormat and the heroine steamrolls over him from time to time.

Great story

Any additional comments?

This is a great book. I was hooked from beginning to end. My favorite character has to be Pete. He found humour at bad times. He always put a smile on my face.
I didn't like Lisa so much. I felt she abused Pete, when he always tries to help her. He loves her a lot and I felt that she throw's it back in his face, even though she says that she loves him. Which I did not believe because she would not have treated him the way she did. Like when he says that he understood why they did it, she had a fit and told him she never wanted to see him again!
However I still liked the book. There is even a few twists in here. Some I expected and the others came as a surprise.

I love this book.

An appalling choice of narrator. Australian at a stretch, a big stretch. Standard English would do but Lancashire would have been most apt.

Whose bright idea was it to read in American.
