Summary

Use posture and body alignment to build strength, achieve peak performance, reduce pain, and find a new sense of confidence with celebrity manual therapist and movement coach Aaron Alexander.

Good posture is about more than standing up straight: It can change your mood, alleviate pain, rid your body of stressful tension, and may be the difference between getting that raise you've wanted and attracting your ideal mate or not. But in order to reap all those benefits, the body must be properly integrated. Celebrity movement coach and manual therapist Aaron Alexander offers a revolutionary approach to body alignment to build strength, reduce pain, and put you on a direct path to peak performance that is both fun and accessible.

The Align Method centers on five daily optimizations that can be easily integrated into any workout, mindfulness practice, or daily life activity:

  • Floor sitting
  • Hanging
  • Hip-hinging
  • Walking
  • Nose breathing

A truly aligned life isn't limited to sweating in a gym or stretching in a yoga studio, and Alexander provides the fundamental principles to optimize your physical and mental process in any situation. Blending Eastern philosophy with Western mechanics, The Align Method brilliantly outlines the necessary tools to leverage the power of your own senses and body language to feel more flexible and confident, and details exactly how to reshape your environment for enhanced creativity and longevity. This is the quintessential user's manual to feeling better than you ever thought possible, and looking great while you're at it!

Critic reviews

"Aaron shares his method for how to approach every day with more strength, confidence, and capability and his heart and compassion shine through." (Kino MacGregor, Ashtanga yoga instructor and founder of Omstars)

"If you've ever wanted to feel more confident, capable, and at home in your body but didn't know where to start, this is the book for you. Aaron shows that by spending just a few minutes on restorative daily practices, you can make the most of every moment and tap into potential you never even knew you had." (Gabrielle Reece, pro volleyball player and co-founder of XPT)

"The first time I met Aaron he was shirtless and barefoot doing a one arm handstand along with some Capoeira moves at Onnit Gym in Austin, TX. Ever since, he has never failed to amaze me, not just with his movement practice, but also with his dedication to helping others reach their full potential. With this book, he becomes your personal coach, and you couldn't hope for a better one." (Jamie Wheal, executive director of The Flow Genome Project)

A must- have book for our age.

I bought this because I'd heard Aaron Alexander's Align podcast and was expecting good things but this really exceeded my expectations. This book is a clear, practical guide for how to honour our biology and reclaim health in our modern age, with practical, easily actionable tips for counteracting the problems that modern life, with its bucket car seats, restrictive shoes and clothes, blue light everywhere and the myriad other ways that our convenient lives have negatively affected our bodies and minds. No recommendations for purchasing expensive gadgets, no spending the whole day, every day behaving like a cave man, just practical help, read by the author, who has a really lovely voice. I definitely recommend.

My best audible book yet!

Amazingly informative, well written and interestingly read by Aaron Alexander himself. I couldn’t wait to be able to get time to listen again to the next chapter.

recycled material

A large proportion of the content is repackaged and rebranded from other books. There is also a good amount of pseudo science

Needs to be a book

Listening to this simply was never going to work for me. It needs to be read, noted down, underlined - and/or watched. This was a book that really wanted to be a youtube series. As a listen, it become pointless.

would recommend to anyone with a body

Aaron Alexander executed this book perfectly. It gives a truly unique perspective on how to treat one's body. With so many books repeating the same things over and over again, this was definitely quite the refresher. Would recommend to anyone with a body

Nothing much of value here.

The narrators voice is fine, but he stuggles with emphasis in many parts, this is distracting. content of the book is pretty weak. maybe listen to a two hour podcast and get the same amount of useful credible information. The majority of the book is filler and a waste of time at best, dangerously misleading at worst.

Listen and Learn to Trust Yourself

This was a liberating experience and has caused me to reimagine my approach to fitness. He simplicity of Aaron’s message is both it’s genius and it’s appeal. It tears away for most of us what will have been year’s of programming that has often been done in the service of someone else’s ego or pocket. Narration is steady yet changes in pitch and tempo when points need to be made. PDFs are useful and accessible. Read the book and check out his podcast!

Must read for the high performer

What really struck me about this book is the level of care in the organization and presentation of this content.
As an Opwel (optimize wellness) coach, I was aware of a lot of this information and have been luckily putting it into self practice and in practice with clients- but to now have 1 resource that contains all of the amazing science and knowledge that this has really is an achievement. So happy to see this crucial information being put out there for the mainstream, and will definitely read this again, and share with all my clients and as many people as I can. Amazing Stuff!! 👍🏼

More like a podcast

The book has a bundle of good ideas, although not original as other readers have pointed out. The claims are interesting, a bit exaggerated at times. The problems is that most of the claims are not well supported by hard evidence. They just seem intuitively right. The author quotes research articles at a very superficial level, makes me assume that he doesn’t have any scientific training. With the writing style and the structure of content, this book really just sounds like a podcast.
