Summary

From New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Jana DeLeon, a new installment in her best-selling Miss Fortune series.

What's a little arson between friends?

Undercover CIA agent Fortune Redding spent her first three weeks in Sinful, Louisiana, dodging insults, makeup advice, guard dogs, bullets, and Deputy Carter Trahan, both professionally and personally. But just when she thinks things are going to settle down in the small bayou town, someone sets her friend Ally's house on fire. Carter, who'd just started pursuing Fortune on a personal basis, goes back into cop mode and admonishes her to stay out of his investigation. This time, he swears, he won't issue any warning before arresting her.

But with her friend's safety hanging in the balance, Fortune can't resist taking matters into her own hands and calls on her partners in crime fighting, Ida Belle and Gertie, to help. This is a mission for Swamp Team 3.

Another cracker of a cozy

Once again Jana Deleon has delighted and enthralled me with her team of well developed characters and their hilarious antics! I love the developing relationship between Carter and Fortune and how she’s completely at odds with it - but then being a CIA assassin will do that to you!
Can’t wait to download the next one!

I love this series!

Jana DeLeon's Miss Fortune series is great fun mixed in with exceptionally good suspense mystery. Swamp Team 3 is the 4th novel in this delightful series. Miss Fortune is completely different from Jana DeLeon's Shaye Archer series which is more serious and also has more intense suspense. I recommend both the Miss Fortune and Shaye Archer series; if Jana DeLeon writes a novel, be assured it is wonderful. Swamp Team 3, like the other novels in the series is narrated superbly by Cassandra Campbell.

If you enjoy the Miss Fortune series, I also suggest the Shelby Nichols Adventure series by Colleen Helme. It also has a great mixture of humor and suspense.

Smokey and The Bandit enough already

I enjoy the series and it's only my 3rd book. But I am getting really annoyed with the sheriff or the deputy showing up every 5 minutes like this is smokey and the bandit or Dukes of Hazzard where they are
always suspected of doing wrong even if they are but it's feeling very been there done and it's getting old

One of the best series I have ever read

Would you listen to Swamp Team 3 again? Why?

This series is captivating, fun, and provides an exceptional listening experience.

What did you like best about this story?

The characters are superbly developed, their personalities well defined, and the mystery is always at the heart of the story

What does Cassandra Campbell bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Cassandra Campbell is by far the best narrator of any book I have purchased on Audible. Her inflection, different voices, and understanding of each individual character are unmistakably deep.

Who was the most memorable character of Swamp Team 3 and why?

Fortune, Idabel, Gertie, and Carter make for great characters as well as the unmistakable charm of Ally. These characters are discussed in a way you would discuss old friends.

Any additional comments?

I know this book series is about strong women and was developed for women. But as a 45 year old father of three, married for 26 years, I find this book series to be amazing. It is hard to put down and I am chewing through these books ate rate of 2 per week. I have even upgraded my membership just so I can get more of them. I will be extremely disappointed when the series is over. Trust me, this series is a fantastic read for men too.

Busy month

This one was different from the rest in the series and it's a welcome deviation. First we get to know more about Ally and get a lot more of Carter (wink, wink). It's just hard to believe that 4 books into the series and really only a month has gone by inteh lives of these quirky characters.

Hebert is pronounced. "A-bear" not He Bert
LeBlanc is pronounced "La-Bla" not la blank

4.5 Stars

I might need a support group. I cannot stop reading/listening to this series. I just finished my fourth book in just about as many days and I don't see myself stopping any time soon. I feel like I should pace myself though because what happens when I've finished them all?

Swamp Team 3 is book 4 in the Miss Fortune Mystery series. I feel like this title would have been so much more appropriate for the 3rd book in the series but that's neither here nor there.

In this book, Fortune, Gertie, and Ida Belle have a tough mystery to figure out because the clues just aren't lining up the way they should. Someone tried to burn Ally's house down, there is a creeper/stalker, and even a murder; but how do they all tie together? With Fortune's feelings for Carter deepening, she is feeling more and more guilty for lying to him, ignoring his demands for her to stay out of police matters, and stepping on his toes and creating additional work for him. But ultimately all bets are off when it comes to making sure Ally is safe.

I figured out who the creeper was pretty early on so it was a bit frustrating that it took the girls and Carter so long to realize it but otherwise the mystery and who-dun-it was super fun to watch them solve.

This has been a great cozy mystery series so far and I recommend it. I am rating this book, Swamp Team 3, 4-4.5 stars. I'm only knocking it down to the 4 stars because I am starting to rate the books in the series against each other and this one wasn't as incredible as book 2, which is my favorite so far, and not quite as good as book 3. If you like your books with a nice dose of humor, this is the series for you. I have found myself laughing out loud too many times to count.

As far as the narration goes, this is the same narrator as the first 3 books so that makes me happy. It looks like she narrates the whole series which is great for continuity and listening to each book back to back. I have been really happy with this narrator but I noticed some of her voices slipping in this book. There were several times where Carter, Ida Belle, and Walter all had exactly the same voice. Other than that, the narration was pretty good.

Fantastic series

Any additional comments?

Don't miss this series - start from the first book to build on the characters and situations. These people become family. And the stories grip you from the beginning to the end.
