Summary
Venus Thibodeaux had a reputation for being trouble. Some said she started at birth. When she finally left Sinful shortly after turning 18, everyone breathed a sigh of relief. When she blew back into town four years later, no one was happy about her return. She immediately launched into her same old scams, picking off Sinful residents with ease before disappearing again as quickly as she’d appeared.
Everyone assumed she’d headed back to New Orleans.
But when an accident at the annual Thanksgiving Turkey Run uncovers her body, everyone Venus took for a ride becomes a suspect. The man at the top of that list sees the writing on the wall and hires Fortune to figure out who killed Venus, before he goes to prison for a murder he didn’t commit. Fortune, Ida Belle, and Gertie start poking around into Venus’ complicated life, hoping to find the killer. And to solve their first official case.

Feel soooo Fortunate to have found these books !
Just thoroughly enjoy these ‘Fortune’ books, they are a brilliant escape , the women make me laugh out loud!

Brilliant !
Definitely recommend, start from the first book though and enjoy !

You just have to gobble up this book
I loved this book. With book 15 the author shakes things up and ruffles some feathers. I don't just mean turkey feathers either. It will be interesting to see how things change in the series. The characters have always been interesting what with Gertie blowing everything up, Ida Belle's need for speed and Fortunes CIA training but in this adventure they are left running the swamp bar, where nothing good ever happens. The author not only serves up humour but also a good mystery that will keep you guessing. As well as great characters the author also includes unusual animals and I just love the introduction of Francis the very talkative parrot, we is going to get them into so much trouble. I love this series and it is one of the few that I can listen to again and again. Even knowing the outcome it still gets a chuckle out of it me.
Gertie is ruffling feather again when she takes part in the annual turkey race. Instead of catching a turkey she discovers a body buried under concrete. A body she and Ida Belle recognise. Venus left Sinful years ago leaving behind broken marriages and jealous but she didn't get very far. When Whisky the owner of the swamp bar looks like he will be arrested, he turns to Fortune to find the real kill. With evidence piling up against him Fortune, Ida Belle and Gertie will have a long list of suspects to serve up to Carter but can they narrow it down any? Especially as It's Belle has her own questions that need answering.
I like the narrator she does an amazing job keeping the listener entertained, even a good parrot imitation.

First Official Case - Fabulous!
If this is your first Fortune/Sinful novel, put it down!!! Instead, go right back to the beginning of the series, because this won’t mean anything to you!
Gertie has become an verb! Given her exploits, it’s been a long time coming! Ida Belle receives a marriage proposal, and gets her booty spanked at the bar where she, Gertie and Fortune are actually running the bar for the foreseeable future - the first night doesn’t go that well!!!
All of this happens in the pursuit of their day to day enquires investigating their case. The usual fun and chaos ensures! If you aren’t laughing by the first 5 minutes, you may as well stop listening...

I Love These Ladies So Much!
If ever I feel miserable or down, stories from Sinful guarantee a smile.
I had to listen to this in a few sections, but the story was so strong it never needed a recap. Had less on the romance side (good), and more delving into the residents past history and backstories (even better). Finished on a very high note. Still smiling now.

Loved it
I'm in a lot of pain at the moment from a chronic condition so on days like today when I can't even pick up my kindle it's great to have Cassandra read the exploits of Fortune & Co as laughter is the best medicine. Thank you

Absolutely brilliant
I have listened to every Miss Fortune book and they keep getting better and better.
Cassandra Campbell narrates these books so well it adds to my enjoyment.
