Meet Sarah Booth Delaney...an unconventional Southern belle whose knack for uncovering the truth is about to make her the hottest detective in Zinnia, Mississippi...if it doesn't make her the deadest. No self-respecting lady would allow herself to end up in Sarah Booth's situation. Unwed, unemployed, and over 30, she's flat broke and about to lose the family plantation. Not to mention being haunted by the ghost of her great-great-grandmother's nanny, who never misses an opportunity to remind her of her sorry state.
Summary
St. Benet's is a gripping crime thriller, the second in a chilling series of serial killer books, ones which will rapidly convert followers of Faith Martin, Joy Ellis and Damien Boyd into David Blake devotees.
When the body of an old man is found lying in the ruins of St Benet’s Abbey, his throat cut, a knife resting in his open hand, DI John Tanner and DC Jenny Evans are given no choice but to accept a ruling of death by misadventure.
But when the body goes missing from its tomb, after a priest is found nailed to a cross, and another impaled on a stake, everything begins to point back to the murder of a teenage girl, thrown from the top of a church tower, some 43 years before.
Set within the mysterious beauty of the Norfolk Broads, this fast-paced British detective series is a murder mystery with a slice of humour and a touch of romance, one that will have you guessing until the very end.

Great second book in the series
Every writer speaks of how difficult the second book in a series is to write. I so enjoyed the first book and hoped this next book
would be able to pick up the flow of the first book and David Blake has done so. The narration is so good which is needed if a new series is to succeed. I have read the third book on kindle but now want to listen to it read by Jonathan Keeble.

the second book in series
I listened to the first book in this series by David Blake and although it was ok, I was not greatly impressed. (3 stars) This book was an improvement.
The main characters are developing personalities but the ineptitude of some of the characters leaves more room for improvement.
As always Jonathan Keeble's narration is excellent!

The dumbing of Tanner
Much worse than the first Tanner. why’d Blake turn his crack DI into a whipped dimwit? And why have plot twists grown only from inexplicably bad decisions that jump shark after shark? This book’s a mediocre waste of a credit. Yawn!

Great read and narration..
Another good read by David Blake, although a bit gross in the killing part. No idea how DB even thought of such grossness. But it was a good read anyway. About the killing of priests so if that bothers you, I’d stay away from this book.
It was all about the death of a 15-year-old girl in 1976 and the murders of priests that had something to do with the girl’s death.
There is no sex or kissing or anything but there is a romance between the hero, John, and the heroine Jenny, even though there is no chemistry between them I don’t know why there’s even a romance mentioned.
The F-bomb was used 9 times.
As to the narration: I listen to all the book that sound interesting that are narrated by Jonathan Keeble. He’s one of the best out there.
