About this listen

Storm Force is another addictive gripping crime thriller, the seventh in a chilling series of serial killer books, ones that will rapidly convert followers of L J Ross, Faith Martin, Joy Ellis, Damien Boyd and J M Dalgliesh into David Blake devotees.

Two marked men, three missing women and an approaching storm, powerful enough to change the Norfolk landscape forever. As a category four storm looms large over Norfolk’s wide open horizon, DI John Tanner is given the task of solving a high-profile murder. But when another body is found just as three women are reported missing, he faces a race against time to uncover the truth before the storm moves in to destroy everything in its path, including the evidence Tanner so desperately needs.

I feel a bit odd, laughing hysterically whilst a dismembered body is being investigated. But this author has a wonderful ability to write in a funny, quirky way. Whilst describing dead bodies. As always, Jonathan Keeble does a sterling job of narrating.

What a Joy to discover a fabulous new author!

The storyline was interesting but unfortunately the supporting characters were lacklustre and, although Jonathan Keeble narrated the book in his usual professional manner, the audiobook struggled to keep my attention and I am unlikely to listen to another book in the Tanner murder mystery series.

Good story and the only thing that I quickly got fed up with was the constant sarcasm. Almost every question brought a sarcastic answer. Tanner’s boss talks almost entirely in sarcastic comments but also most of the people Tanner interviews do the same. Even Tanner joins in. Get’s annoying and then ridiculous. Keeble is a great narrator but his feminine voice sometimes sounds like Julian Clary.

Sarcasm!
