As if he doesn't have enough to handle between running outlaws out of Cheyenne, keeping his brothers out of trouble, and avenging his father's death, Sheriff Sawyer McCade's meddling mother just dumped a mysterious mail-order bride on his doorstep. One woman can be more trouble than a band of renegades, and while this one has him all stirred up, he'd rather get to the bottom of the story she isn't telling. Rose Parker had it all - until a web of danger and deceit sends her running to Cheyenne posing as a mail-order bride. Escaping the evils of New York seems sensible until she meets the unsuspecting sheriff who didn't ask for her, has no intention of marrying her, and won't rest until he uncovers her secret and sends her back home.

Nick Sanders has loved Elizabeth since he first glimpsed her portrait - not that he dare admit it. A ranch hand has no call to woo a well-born lady, especially when she’s being courted by the town’s finest gentleman. Summary
A Christian historical romance.
Escaping her abuser, Veronica heads for Texas as a mail-order bride. She brings with her an unexpected baby and hopes and prays that Max will be accepting of her child. She also hopes she will be able to allow her husband to touch her.
Max is stunned to see a secret baby, but he comes through as a cowboy hero and treats her as his own. He's not sure how to react to Veronica. She is jumpy and scared. He knows it'll be a long road to teach her that some men can be trusted.
Then the dead father of her baby shows up. Can they both come to the realization that both love and trust are what makes a forever type of marriage? Or will past betrayals and new secrets ruin what could have been?

Shattered Trust
It’s hard to trust after being a victim of violence. Veronica tries to start over by becoming a mail order Bride, but it will take time to heal. When the violence follows her, she may not be able to escape her past.

Heartwarming Romance
Simply an amazing story of a woman who had been through a horribly abusive and scary life around the civil war era and then had the strength to try to change it by gambling on a mail order bride add. It shows how hard it is to learn to trust and feel safe after being through so much... can she? And will Max accept her and all the baggage she come with? It's well written and clean historical romance with a Christian influence and one I could see as a Hallmark movie. The narration was great and I really enjoyed listening to it.

a very troubled story
I think with all Veronica has been through she would act with a little more sense all the running away and acting dumb and immature the narrator did a horrible job I wanted the story to finish
