Summary

Das Périgord ist die Heimat der schwarzen Trüffeln - sie sind, bei einem Preis von 5000 Euro pro Kilo, der wichtigste Bodenschatz der Region. Als ruchbar wird, dass die schwarzen Diamanten auf dem Trüffelmarkt des Nachbarorts mit billigen Importen aus Asien verschnitten werden, muss Bruno ermitteln. Der Fall nimmt eine dramatische Wendung, als ein furchtbarer Mord begangen wird - an Brunos altem Jagdfreund Hercule, dem größten Trüffelexperten der Region. Bruno steht nun vor der Herausforderung, die Verbindung zwischen diesem und einigen lange zurückliegenden Verbrechen zu finden, die eng mit Frankreichs unrühmlicher kolonialer Vergangenheit in Indochina verknüpft sind.

Was als beschauliche Erzählung über eine kulinarische Spezialität beginnt, steigert sich zu einem rasanten Thriller, der mehrere Kontinente und ein halbes Jahrhundert überspannt.
