Publisher's Summary

Escape the enemy's deadly trap! The Bait of Satan exposes one of the most deceptive snares Satan uses to get believers out of the will of God - offense. Most people who are ensnared by the bait of Satan don’t even realize it. Don’t be fooled! You will encounter offense, and it’s up to you how it will affect your relationship with God. Your response will determine your future. If offense is handled correctly, you will become stronger rather than bitter. In this tenth anniversary edition of his best-selling book, John Bevere shows you how to stay free from offense and escape the victim mentality. With more than 400,000 copies in print, this audio book includes testimonials of transformed people who have read the original book and a devotional supplement, featuring discussion questions, scriptures, and prayers. You will find answers to tough questions like these: Why am I compelled to tell “my side” of the story? How can I fight thoughts of suspicion or distrust? What can I do to stop rehearsing past hurts? How can I regain trust after someone deeply offends me? This audio book will help you escape the enemy’s “offensive trap” as well as empower you to stay free of offense, enabling you to have an unhindered relationship with God.

"Excellent Book!! Powerful Teaching On Offence"
What did you like most about Bait of Satan?

This book walks you through biblical truths on the danger of holding offence. It covers every possible area. I had this book for almost 18 months before I read it. But as I read each chapter it was clear that the Holy Spirit was using this teaching to bring clarity and healing to my broken heart.
I have been struggling for some time with someone who is in authority and through this book I can now wholeheartedly say that though I was wounded. The way I was behaving was equally not right. I can say that my eyes are now opened and my heart is in the process of healing.

God Bless you, John & Lisa.
Your ministry has always blessed my family.

What about John Bevere’s performance did you like?

The passion in your voice was perfect
No one else could have done it justice

    "Forgiveness is the KEY"

This book was referred to me by a friend. Actually she said to be sure to get the hard copy because the book is so full of scripture you will want to look everything up the second go around.

Yea yea-- All I seem to have time for now a days is to listen. Get it!!!!!!!!!! There is so much information on forgiveness in this book. I struggle with forgiveness period!!! I guess when I forgave I wasn't truly in my heart letting it go, if I even forgave at all. I harbored grudges and lots of anger towards those that hurt or offended me. This book showed my how NOT to do that any longer. I am now working in the right direction in being able to forgive with an open and loving heart thru God, to truly cast my burdens on Him and FORGIVE and ASK for forgiveness!!! Forgiveness helps us to grow into the people that God really wants us to become. Loving, caring, full of kindness towards others and showing honor to Him.

Any place that you are at in your life, this book will show you so much more of Gods love and understanding. God's hand will be on you as you go thru this book and He will rain down His blessings when you finally receive the true understanding of forgiveness.

Get this book. Take the time to ask God to open your heart and to feel His presence while you are listening and He will guide you. You will see and feel the change.

    In God's love and forgiveness,

"A Topic We All Need to Listen to and Understand"
What was one of the most memorable moments of Bait of Satan?

This book tells about a very important doctrine from God's Holy Word and explains how God expects us to deal with offenses when they happen. John Bevere uses stories from his own life and from the Bible to illustrate the points of this doctrine so that we can understand how choices we make when we become offended can affect ourselves and others.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Some parts of this book are difficult to listen to and will evoke emotions that the listener will need to deal with after listening. I don't recommend listening in one sitting. I think it's best to take this book in pieces and deal with the emotions a little at a time.

Where does Bait of Satan rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This book is powerful and life changing. It is a must read for everyone who struggles with hurts. Forgiveness is necessary to go with life after one has been hurt. John did an excellent job writing this and presenting it. I highly recommend this book to everyone!

"Excellent book, do yourself a favor and get it."

If you are a Christian struggling in any area of you life, and you are having a hard time putting your finger on the problem (or maybe you know) read/listen to this book. It was a true gift of the Spirit. I listened to the whole of the book while on a long drive and was convicted, edified, taught and blown away! I will be buying a copy to read and reread often.

    "good book about offense"
Would you listen to Bait of Satan again? Why?

maybe - I enjoyed listening while driving but have other good audiobooks lined up. If I hadn't liked it I wouldn't have continued with it so not listening to it again wouldn't be for any negative reason.

What other book might you compare Bait of Satan to and why?

not sure - but best I can remember this guy is following spiritual authority if you're familiar with that- not letting offense get in and waiting on God to reveal the faults of someone 'over' you.

Which character – as performed by John Bevere – was your favorite?

    I don't recall any characters

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yes I think I'd have liked to listen to it in one sitting and may try that another time

    Any additional comments?

overall I liked this book- not sure how practical/useful it was for me since I'm not in leadership but he had some good points about taking offense/unforgiveness/authority.

"A Lot of Error in this Book."

I struggled to listen to this entire book because of all the errors in it. John Bevere plays fast and loose with Scriptures and takes many of them out of context. He doesn't even get around to the main Scriptures real theologians use for Biblical conflict until the very last chapter!

He does not have a solid grasp of basic knowledge of the Bible and this is evident throughout this book. For instance, he hints that a believer can lose his salvation, that Jesus died for everyone, and, that forgiveness is unconditional. (I.e. We are to forgive from the heart, be willing to forgive, but the process of forgiveness does not take place until there is confession, and asking to forgive by the one who sinned against the other..) Bevere barely uses the word, sin, but I stead constantly uses "being offended, to back up the in Scripture that he takes out of context to use throughout his book.

Also, he does not give the meaning of what forgiveness is: a PROMISE to
    1) not bring it up again;
    2) not dwell on it; and
    3) not tell others.
    4) there's oe more - I forgot

Anyway, I only read this book because I promised someone I would.

Instead, I would recommend "Peacemakers" by Ken Sanders or "From Forgiven to Forgiving", by Jay Adams. Don't waste your time or money on this book.

John Bevere has a lot more error in his life. (Do a search on the Internet. He was under Benni Hinn for awhile and is a Faith Preacher.)
