Vast improvement
If you are like me, then you might have been put off by the first ravenor book. especially if you came from the Eisenhorn series. I originally didnt like the way it was presented, with the titular character getting sidelined so much, but the characters grew on me and the second book has what I think to be a somewhat better plot, although this may be my prejudice on the first book talking. The one thing that still irks me with the narrator (who is godly) is his portrayal of the women in the books he narrates. Honestly he makes them sound like old ladies, though without using a second narrator like in the Caiaphas Cain books I doubt it's possible. It's hard for me to imagine Kiss being all sexy and lithe as described in the book when she sounds like Helbrecht.

Good but you have to like psykers
Amazing narration as always. Maude and Karl’s stories are the most compelling- definitely a must if you’ve read the previous book. I found ravenor interesting at first but now I don’t really get compelled by his character. There is little growth or direction for him.
Plot was fun though. Unravel the mystery, stop the baddies. Overall a great success from Dan and Toby.

A great mix of intrigue, awesome conspiracy and fast paced action.
