Critic reviews

"Pimsleur programs provide plenty of positive reinforcement that will keep learners on track, and we found that Pimsleur gave us more proficiency and confidence in speaking the new language than any of the other language programs we reviewed." ( AudioFile magazine)

is good but where is the written text?

This is well structured and effective. BUT the written text to go with it is not included. That makes it much less effective. :(

Best way to learn a new language!

This program lets you learn one short conversation at a time and it teaches you connective words to help you make your own sentences. I do the lessons every day for 30 min (I repeat each one twice because it helps me retain it better) and u feel I'm doing very well with my Italian!

4 months other sources > this is my way

I spent about 4 months cramming 2 hours each day with vocab, verb conjugation and even a private tutor online. But I wasn't SPEAKING ITALIAN yet. This Pimsleur Italian One course completed and I can now speak basic (VERY BASIC) phrases to get myself understood. I'm moving on to Level two now. I had bought level 2 initially because I had 4 months under my belt of hardcore studying (1k vocab words and basic grammar and verb understanding). I immediately went back and bought level 1 and started at the very beginning. I did not find it slow or frustrating. I learned critical basic phraseology I never gained in other learning modes. I truly enjoyed this course and the topics and building blocks.

Soon it becomes easy. Do each lesson over and over

Loved it. gets easier and easier... then harder and harder and you think you'll never get it. Then it clicks in again. And you've learned something else. Before long you will start thinking of the Italian word for the objects in your life. But you really need a speaker to practice with.
